Springtime in the desert!

Warm days, cool nights, fragrant wildflowers of incredible colour!! This photo is of an area just northwest of here.

I'm still fetching with my 'ugly' American from Chicago on the Iran sailors blog.....

AJ... thanks for the advice ... I'm going to take it and go to bed ...

Night all :D

Hello all!

We've been offline for a while...not sure if it was that bit of thunder n lightning, had to turn the computers off, but it seems we're up and running, well, the SgtMjr's computer anyway! Mine needs to be rebooted (I'm more than ready to take a workboot to it!! :))

Posting anywhere, or has the weekend started early??!!! :))

Ps nice post yest on the Released Sailors article, #147, I believe, Anna, and thankyou AJ, for noting it later in the thread, I would've missed it otherwise!

anna said...

AJ

I see you're getting some 'heavy' action on that thread.... I thought I'd pitch in and give you a bit of support... :D

The armchair computer warriors give me the heaves as well.

Melanie said...

Anna, that was a good response, I tried to follow up with pointing out money wasted/spent on dress uniforms rather than support for front lines, as per the article the other day.

I, like you, believed the WMD argument, etc...and I'm still undecided about the whole thing, as I'm not too trusting of the media. I do believe the Islamic radicals to be a threat; I do not have trust in my government.

There are some really extreme people posting on the articles...you really wonder who they are, and what their agendas are!!

Hope you're all having a nice eve, regardless of the news article/situation...it's easy to get worked up about these things.

Will speak with you later! :)

Melanie said...

Anna, I don't believe it, your post #91 was deleted...it was spot on with your comment defending AJ and supplying the frontline troops.

I've posted again in the 200's but to be honest, I wonder if the others are just trolls with an agenda.

If your interested, I came across this video and it really does provide some thought evoking ideas...but always with a grain of salt...if you know what I mean. I really do think there's more going on than is being told so I do wish to promote free speech, not just what is spoon fed to us via regular media channels:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=m9Yc3wYJOtI

AJ, you were forceful in you comments, and I do understand where you are coming from. The others were out there with their comments back. I have to admit the jury is still out for me with regard to this whole mess, but I am concerned with the effect on morale for our troops, and the 'enemy' seeing us as weak which is why I put the 'Art of War' quote in post #111.

Anyway, I'm thankful we can speak freely here.

Happy Easter, and wish you a quiet and restful Sunday with friends, family, and good eats!!

It's good to go off on holiday, knowing my cyber pals stick up for me when the big boys start puchin' me around!!:)))

I hope the three of you have a great week and have a happy chocolate egg day!!:DD

Anna, how many eggs have you scoffed, and do you deliberately buy KK eggs you know he won't like?:))

Hi all, hope everyone had a good Easter. Bogged down with work as usual, dogs getting along famously.
G'nite all.

Melanie said...

Good Morning!!

How have ya been? Leave a note if you're posting anywhere! :)

Peajay said...

Hiya Melanie, not posting anywhere but thought I'd leave a note anyway. Hope all's good. How was LA?

Melanie said...

Hi Peajay, I didn't think anyone was around today! I've been posting on the 'galapagos cradle of life', and the 'pope and intell. design' stories

Peajay said...

Not up to much today. I lost a friend today, not as in death but just words. I still have no idea why and feel pretty sure that I haven't done anything. The person in question has in the past suffered from mental illness which included several attempts at suicide. I have to step away but it hurts so much.

Anonymous said...

It may not be a loss of death, Peajay, but it is still something needing to be grieved. I'm sorry this has happened. If this person is unstable, then I do think perhaps it is for the best, for you, at the moment. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers! :)

AJ Fife said...

Hello friends,

I came back, despite the delights of Normandy!! What have I missed?

Sorry to hear of your trouble PJ, but people are hard to fathom at the best of times and mental illness can make it pretty much impossible. Hopefully your friend can somehow get the help she needs and get back on an even keel.

Anna,

What's with all the moderated comments, I seemed to suffer as well last week?

Melanie,

Hope you are well and keeping the family in check!!!

Peajay said...

Hi AJ

Did you have a good time in sunny Normandy?

Melanie said...

Anna, Peajay, what are the results of the Grand National? My friends and I were placing bets last nite...can't remember all of their names (horses, not friends!) except....Slim Pickings! :)) I put a whole two dollars into the betting pool!!! :D

what a role model: out drinking and gambling!!! :/ :D

AJ, Please do not succumb to post holiday depression...not that I've experienced that!! ;)) I can't wait to hear some of your experiences and hopefully see some photos!! uhhemm...did you fit into your kilt, sugah?!!

Hi all

Been out and about for a couple of days ... so haven't posted anywhere lately. Mr A had leave and KK is off school so we've been enjoying some days out and getting stuck into the gardening .... which is now looking much better :)

Peajay.... hope it all works out ... I know its tough but sometimes its better to let go of things..... for your own sake :)

AJ ..... glad you enjoyed yourself in Normandy ... you can tell us all about it when you get the chance :)

Don't know why posts were being removed off the Scotsman... but it might have something to do with some of the neocon US posters complaining about people who they thought were 'lefties' and publishing email addresses!! :(

Melanie..... Silver Birch won the Grand National and KK had a £5 each-way bet on him (which I placed!!) .... so if he gets the 33-1 odds he should get about £150+ back :D. I've told him he's got to share it with me ... because it was my money that he used and I phoned the bookies!!!
Mr A and I both had horses but Mr A's fell and .. I picked LONGSHANKS!! ...thought it was quite apt in a way... but he only came in 7th :D

I think it was Silver Birch, McKelvey 2nd and Slim Pickings in 3rd place. :)

I love the Grand National and we always have a flutter on that!! Just a tenner each tho'..... my horse won last year, and Mr A's the year before so we're taking it in turns!! :)

Melanie said...

Yippee!! Slim Pickings was my addition to the choices!!

Congrats on your win, Anna!!...that'll keep you in some chocolate for a bit!!! :D

Hi Melanie
I have returned all the birthday gifts (there was a few) from this friend as I felt the sentiment that they were given in was no longer there and in conscience I couldn't keep them and would not have used them. (>_<)

My 1st choice horse in today's Craft Fair Grand National sweepstake fell at fence number 22 (Bechers,) my 2nd choice came in 4th. C’est la vie.

Well done to KK, would he be available to pick for me next year. (^_~)

Today's top news story is the splitting up of Prince William and his bird, ain't life grand when this above all things is news worthy! (ó_ò)

Melanie said...

Anna, AJ...you were wonderfully evil in your comments on the 'tragic' breakup of such a fairytale couple!!!

how's yer weekend been??!!! We've all been a bit under the weather here so haven't been up to much. Serves us right tho, 'cause we were out late at our friend's house Fri nite....we caught the kiddies' colds!!

Melanie said...

okay, who's going to be brave and do the personality test!!! Don't worry, it's pretty straitforward, not naughty....I'll tell you my results, if you tell me yours!! ;)))

Peajay said...

Hi Melanie
This is me:
'You scored mainly in the Water-Sky quadrant. This 'Blue' quadrant highlights the water sign of your personality and your tendency to be cool and free-flowing in most circumstances. Water from the sky provides the necessary resources for growth and this is a feature of your approach to life. You will enjoy the freshness of new ideas and actively seek these out, either by talking to others or by reading.

People who map into this quadrant will enjoy examining problems or making discoveries. Consequently, you may sometimes tend to take your time in coming to decisions which affect your day-to-day life. If there are any uncertainties, your natural reaction will be to postpone things until you are sure.

You are unlikely to enjoy conflict situations which, more than likely, will create stress for you. In these circumstances you may well be a 'worrier' and this could affect your health. As a result you will usually move to defuse any potential conflicts well before they occur.

You will be a considerate person and choose your words carefully so that you don't upset others. Sometimes however, you may be so subtle that people don't realize what you are feeling about a particular issue. You may need to check that people fully understand your views and incorporate these into their decision making.

Being a sky person, you may well have a strong imagination which causes you to fantasize about the future. Future possibilities interest you greatly whereas the past is something you can readily put behind you. However, be careful that you don't live too much in the future. There are the realities of day-to-day living to think about.'
Hmmmmmmmmm!!!!!

Melanie said...

lifecolorslite.html

My teen also had the same response as yours, Peajay...she's an 'artiste' as well!! :))

hmmmm......this is mine.....

You scored mainly in the Sky-Fire quadrant. This 'yellow' quadrant highlights the fire sign of your personality and your tendency to blaze across the sky like a comet, taking new ideas and concepts and trying to push them into action. You may well have a vivid imagination and enjoy constantly dreaming up new things to do. Because of your fire sign, you will probably push some of these ideas into action before you and others are ready. You may well be a persuasive person when discussing issues you passionately believe in. In these situations, many people may well be influenced by your apparent confidence.

People who map into this quadrant like to connect the future to the present. Your mind may constantly be exploring possibilities concerning where you are going and what you might do with your life. However, there are times when you could become over-enthusiastic and make decisions before you have fully thought about the ramifications. If anything, your mind might be focused on too many ideas at once. This may result in fewer successes, mainly because of your desire to get into action before you have completely done your homework.

For you there are unlikely to be too many problems. Of all the signs, yours describes someone who can turn a problem into an opportunity. Failure is unlikely to disturb you too much as you have a knack of being able to rebound from adversity.

AJ Fife said...

You scored mainly in the Water-Earth quadrant. This 'Green' quadrant highlights the 'down-to-earth' aspect of your personality and your enjoyment of everyday life. You like to 'go with the flow', enjoying all sorts of practical experiences. Your life is like a river which flows across the ground, meandering towards the sea. When obstacles arise you will adapt and flow around them, without too much worry or concern. An 'earth' person will very much live life in the present, rather than worrying too much about the future.

People who map into this quadrant will often seek a variety of everyday experiences and base their decisions on what they have personally experienced, rather than what someone has told them or what they have read about. Therefore, sometimes you may delay making a decision because you have no 'real world' data to tell you what to do. You like to be totally happy with any decision before taking action.

You are likely to be good observer and take in a lot of visual data. Details are important to you and you will often take time to find out how something works. You usually like the 'best' in everything you do and therefore your standards and expectation of others may be too high. Remember that no-one is perfect!

Quality in everything you do is important to you. However, realize that you may sometimes have to compromise to meet the needs of others.

Well, it paints a pretty good picture of me.......yup, I'll go along with all this guff!!:)))

AJ Fife said...

Hi Guys,

Normandy was a great - pristine, very interesting, welcoming, crep-tastic(chocolate sauce and fresh cream!!), and very sombre in places.....as you'd expect!:(

All the travel arrangements went perfectly and the Hotel was very nice indeed - Hotel Tarif in Bayeux which was an 18th century Chateau!

Bayeux is really pretty, luckily it escaped bombing and shelling during the war(about the only town that did!). The Cathedral and Tapestry are magnificient and well worth the visit on their own. It was good to see where all Anna and Peajay's ancestors came from!!:)

Of course the Battlefield tour was very good, but we couldn't cover evrything. The sheer scale of the operation is quite extraordinary. The memorials and cemeteries are particularly powerful and sobering, and well tended. Interestingly, the American cemetery at Omaha is now looked after by the German govt!!

All the museums are good, but we did spot a number of mistakes)wrong captions against equipment etc), like the trainspotters we are!!!:D

Hope you are all well? I missed our "wee chats"!:))

Peajay said...

It sounds very interesting AJ (especially the crepes!) I can only imagine the cemetaries as being a difficult experience and the sheer scale reflecting the folly of man can not be more exemplified. When you reflect on the distance we have come and the continuing repetition of those mistakes it just makes you feel so impotent.

I thought that the life colour test was very accurate although not necessarily how I would want to view myself. The same applied when I checked out my chinese horoscope although I sometimes wish it came out as a mercenary, Alan Sugar style business person with no qualms about trampling the underdog on my rise to the top.:DD Alas these things can often prove more insightful than we realise.

AJ Fife said...

Too true Peajay, the last 16 years has been littered with wars which should not have been fought. Plus the cruelty and babarism shown by the protagonists is beyond belief, when you consider the supposed lesson of WW2.

I think the Bosnia/Croatia/Serbia/Kosovo conflicts were particularly hard to take. Attrocities carried out on European soil, with the memory of Nazism still fresh. How could it happen!!?? Man's inhumanity!!

How's the business, by the way?

anna said...

Ok... I'm a fire sign ... same as Melanie.. well, my Zodiac sign is a fire one as well (Leo)... so maybe there is something in it :D

Hi all,

Glad you enjoyed your holiday AJ... it sounds great .... must put it on my list of places to go to. (which is getting longer and longer!! :D)

You may already know this but there is a WW2 American cemetary in Madingley near Cambridge.... http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Cambridgeshire/MadingleyUSACemetery.html

I'm embarrassed to say that I visited it for the first time last Saturday!! I've been meaning to go for ages and finally went after mentioning it to an American poster on the Scotsman site!! It is well worth a visit .... a very moving, tranquil, peaceful and beautiful place.

It is set in lovely countryside as well.... altho' the local pub is very pricy for lunch ... so we went a bit further up the road to one that we already knew..... with a beer garden and swings ... :D

Things are quiet on the Scotsman today.... they have closed their comments boxes..... wonder if that is intentional... mind you, some people do get very abusive towards them...

AJ Fife said...

Hi Anna,

Your piece didn't mention the word "batty"!!!!:D

Surprising...eh?

AJ Fife said...

Anna,

You could probably drive to Normandy in no time at all. Property is pretty cheap too - gorgeous farmhouses for about £80K!!!

I would imagine Cambridgeshire is the last resting place/memorial for thousands of American aircrew.I've uploaded a picture of Omaha cemetary on my blog - a bit squint, but it gives a feeling of tranquility!

The Scotsman aint playing today, but I've noticed them doing this before. It's a Unionist paper and I don't think they like the abuse from the Nationalists!!:)

anna said...

Batty... why...you cheeky wee *!*!*%$£&** .......:D

The one at Madingley has a lot for June 6th 1944..... which, KK spotted first... he didn't know what it was or the significance of it but ... I was impressed that he noticed a lot of them were the same date :)

They've got 5000 + names on a huge wall for the missing... some of those were from the Atlantic Convoys. Unfortunately, the museum there was shut the day we went ... it apparently shows all the Atlantic routes that they used .. which would have been interesting

I'll go and have a quick squint at your blog :)

The Trident 'debate' yesterday got a bit heated.... Martha said that all the SNP supporters were w**kers ... which I thought was a bit rude.... so I told her off!! :D

Btw... Melanie.. does it have the same meaning in American English?

AJ Fife said...

I read your Martha chastising post, Anna........it was very erudite and precise, and perhaps it gave her some food for thought!!;) Might be the last we see of her!! Wotcha think?

anna said...

No... I think she'll be back... she has a hide like a rhino that one!!

She might mind her manners a bit better but .... then again.. maybe not.

Are the Scotsman comments boards still closed? It really did get a bit wierd a week or so ago on there, when the Navy hostages stories were ongoing. People were reporting anyone whose political view was different from theirs...... trying to publish their emails and claiming that there were conspriacies all over the place. Perhaps the Scotsman staff are sick of it all and have decided to shut up shop. :(

AJ Fife said...

I'm not sure Anna, but there have been times in the past when the privileges have been taken away:))Remember the Mr Bumsfelt era, nobody could post for a while after the rammy caused by him.

It's good to know a wee committee in the Scotsman has to decide if we should be allowed to cyber play. It's still OK to post on yesterdays stories though.

Melanie said...

Good Morning!

Lots of chatter to read here! :)

Will be back in a flash with some coffee!

anna said...

You can post on the Edinburhg Evening News stories...... but that always seems a bit too local to me ... if you know what I mean .... so I don't normally bother with them.

I see the moderators have been at work and removed Martha's bankers with a 'w' post. Hen Broon aka Duncan must have complained like he said he would..... they don't seem to work on Sundays - the moderators! :D

Hi Melanie :)

AJ Fife said...

Hi Melanie,

It's a beautiful day in Sconnie Botland - 20 degrees and not a cloud in sight!!

How's sunny CA........sunny I suppose!!:))

Melanie said...

AJ, you've made me do math this morning!!! :/ :)

I don't normally think in C, so... it's about 16C/55F and should warm up a bit. We had gale force winds last week, knocked over my friend's tree as she informed me they will be well in with firewood for the next few years!!

Did you go up to Aberdeen for some sunbathing?!! :))

Anna, you and I are sky-fire... what trouble can we get into, or create?!!! ;)) (jest kiddin)

AJ, I like your result as well...you balance us out, and Peajay adds the artist flair! :))

Ps yes, Anna, f@nny may not translate the same, but w@nk*r does!

Melanie said...

Anna, about what number was your Martha-spanking post?! :)

Have you found any fun/safe place to post yet?

anna said...

I see you've commented on the story about the vandals in Edinburgh graveyards.... AJ.

Confession time..... when I was about 9 or 10 and we were staying at my Nana's in Peebles .... quite a few of my cousins came over to visit... and we all went to the local park and popped into the graveyard next door on the way home.. and a couple of my naughty boy cousins 'leant' too hard on one of the gravestones and it toppled over!!!

Well, we ran home as if all the devils from hell were after us! We all swore each other to secrecy, scared each other to death with ghost stories and the 'grown-ups' didn't find out until we were all 'grown-ups' ourselves.

It wasn't intended as vandalism .. but I bet some people thought it was!! :)

Our ages ranged from 8 to 12/13.... a regular band of hooligans!!

anna said...

Post 385 on yesterday's Trident blog ... Melanie :)

AJ Fife said...

Anna,

I did a fair bit of student type pranks when I was a teenager and occasionally they got out of hand, but nothing too bad! When I was about 8 I burned down a neighbour's shed though. My pals and I, were making "fires" in the local wood and it got out of control. The result was this poor guy's garden shed and perimeter fencing going up in flames. We watched from a safe distance.....contemplating our actions(shiting ourselves!!). I remember getting a thumping that night or the next night!!:))

AJ Fife said...

Anna,

You sounded a right nutter - desecrating graves and stuff!!:) tsk tsk!!!

Melanie said...

oh, I was a complete angel growing up.... :? (supposed to be a smirk kind of smile). Though, AJ, I think you win the naughty award!!

Anna, like your post to Martha

When I lived in Missouri, we would go at the witching hour to see this odd green glow off of one of the headstones, but no 'bad' stuff, the Missouri Troopers (police) were more scary than the ghosts.

We did T.P. a lot of houses, though!!

anna said...

So you're a firestarter ... AJ.

I'm a grave desecrater ..

Melanie ... what is does TP a house mean?

I can imagine that the Missouri state Troupers would be a lot more scary than the local polis in Peebles. He'd give you a clip round the ear, a telling off and tell your parents... but the Missouri guys have got guns!!! V. Scary... worse than the ghosties! :D

AJ Fife said...

I wonder what wee Peajay got up to?

True Anna, it makes a differance when the Bobbies carry revolvers. Might not have behaved like an arse when I was about 19 as much!!!Could have been picked off by a trigger happy Polis!!:)

AJ Fife said...

TP?

Could it be Toilet Painting - might inviove creeping inside a neighbour's bathroom and spraying a loo chocolate brown!!!

anna said...

They said in the article that the 'desecraters' were Goths. I don't think thats true ... they always seem quite a placid bunch to me.

One of my nieces is a Goth... she's a drama student as well, so she's quite arty farty and has her bedroom done out in a Gothic kind of way, with sexy vampire posters on the wall etc, etc!! ;)
All her group of Goths seem quite nice... and quite pacifist ... I can't see them summoning up the inclination or energy to desecrate graves.

They do dress weird tho' ... I could never wear black lipstick... yuk!! :D

Melanie said...

TP means toilet paper...which as a joke, or to get at someone, kids would unwind roll after roll of said paper by throwing them over trees and parts of the house, so there would be streamers everywhere...always under the cover of darkness, with the thrill of doing as much decorating without waking anyone up!!

Anna, there's a slightly more perceived scary element with southern type police, hard to explain....they would've been tougher on the boys, of course. Sounds like your policemen might have been the same with strictness, I suppose it's what's perceived as possible consequences...(nothing like tie you out there where the alligators/water snakes are, or let's take a drive where that rogue bear has been causing trouble, though!!! I'm using poetic license here!!!!:D)

I've posted on the pyramid sand art article...

AJ Fife said...

Goths are pretty sophisticated, they wouldn't take part in any needless vandalism, especially a graveyard!!! Graveyards are like a home from home to a Goth!!:))

Melanie said...

Do your police have gang/yob suppression units that target problem areas??? That, combined with a neighborhood watch program, and a guaranteed night in jail might send a message

anna said...

Another of our nieces on Mr A's side this time (we've got 8 nieces and 1 nephew between us).... told us at the weekend that her and her mates used to go cow-pushing at night!!

I thought she was joking!! but apparently, they used to go up to sleeping but standing cows in fields and push them over. Why? Because its a good laugh watching them topple over!!! Ooh the youth of today..... tsk tsk :D :D

Melanie said...

I agree about the Goths, they do seem pretty into go with the flow, artsy, and into their music...

Melanie said...

Anna, we call that cow-tipping!!!

AJ Fife said...

Melanie,

They probably have some sort of doctrine laid out for suppressing a gang type scenario. However, budgets probably limit the Police to what they can do, plus it's too dificult to deal with. I know in our area, the police are very slow to deal with any gang problems, probably because they have no backup and are scared of an incident.

AJ Fife said...

I've heard of the cow pushing caper....sounds good fun!!:))

Melanie said...

unfortunately, it seems unless things get out of hand (perhaps killings, etc), or some kind of moneymaking area etc is threatened, it does seem less is done. What a shame that your police feel intimidated, but I do understand...police having their hads tied, afraid of the publicity and lawsuits from incidents, esp when the press gets involved.

I've commented on the graveyard story, it seems Americans are now responsible for the yobs' actions!

anna said...

I'd heard of the cow pushing/tipping.. but I thought it was a joke....

So, was surprised to hear that it was real. I can imagine how hilarious it would seem to a group of 13, 14 15 year olds tho'!!! :D Wonder who dreamt it up?

What is Wattie on about on the graves blog.? Is he really blaming Americans and the Iraq War for a local hooliganism story?

Some bright ned will probably use that as his defence!! :D

Melanie said...

I actually think it's not good for the cows, though...wouldn't want to meet a mad farmer with a pitchfork!!!!

bye AJ!

anna said...

I've just seen the news about that campus shooting in America..... it sounds horrific..

There are some really evil people in the world.

Melanie said...

Anna, I have a confession to make...the news flash came over onto my e-mail as I sat here working...I read the headline, but didn't open it...sort of just another day in America...I'm not completely calloused as these things do upset me. I have an e-mail we received from back east regarding a murder-carjacking. I warn you it is a gruesome read, but I will see if I can post it on another one of my photos, I don't want it here...it's too upsetting, but there's a lot of this viciousness that occurs, a lot is under reported depending on the newsworthiness of the victims, or what the press wants to spin. Much involves gangs, drugs, illegals. The SgtMjr is a good resource if you have any questions regarding this insanity.

All I can say, is, criminals need to be dealt with a just, but heavy hand...I really think it's the only deterrant. The yobs in Edinburgh would think twice, if they were dealt with severely.

We are having major gang crack downs here in this area, esp dealing with the part who are illegal to begin with. As for the shoot-em-up crazies, that's a whole different ballgame, with deterrance, etc.

No doubt the anti-gun people will be screaming and yelling again...but the bad guy/crazies will always manage to get guns regardless

Melanie said...

I just re-read my post, I do apologise if it sounded harsh.

I've just read online the count is up to 32...not sure about the motive yet.

I've been enjoying some comedy relief on the pyramid art and yob cemetary articles.
(if we weren't laughing, we'd be crying)

anna said...

You don't sound callous ... Melanie... just resigned to it ....it is scary tho' that you have to live like that.

I know things can get bad here as well.... with the shootings etc in London but I don't think we have the horrendous problems that the US does with gun crime....... yet! But, I think it may be only a matter of time...... I hope not but there is no point being an ostrich and I don't think we get told everything either. There are loads of crimes which don't get reported.

Anyway, you have to keep positive or the news would be too depressing all the time. My uncle has stopped watching it and says he feels much happier :)

Speak to you later :)

Peajay said...

Hi all,

I can see why Anna's uncle has stopped watching the news. It seems like it's taking place in your living room, invading your home. Isolated incidents become the norm when they are blasted at you through radio, tv and internet. We all know there are bad people and bad things but the off switch although not changing the facts does allow you time to breath.

Alas AJ, I never had the opportunity to be naughty as my back incident happened at age 9 and never allowed for extra curricular activities. I realise this a major deficiency in my life and hope to remedy it in the future perhaps with your TP suggestion. :D

good morning!

Picked up KK's winnings today from the Grand National... £216... I tell you that boy will go far!! :D

Anyway he's already spent his portion on some Star Wars stuff that he wants..... now what will I spend mine on? :D :D

AJ Fife said...

Funny thing, wee Mish Mash's birth date - 30, meant we picked the winner too. Only got £86 back though - £2 eachway!!!

Crumbs....£216!!! How much did you own up to when you gave the news to MrA and KK?

anna said...

We put £5 each way on it... not bad result really.... I can see why people get sucked into it tho'. How much would we have won if it had been £10, £100, £1000.. the house? The slippery slope of gambling...

I only ever bet on the National tho' and have done since I was a kid and my Dad used to put an eachway bet on for us!! :D

My Grandad's favourite tipple was rum ...so he bet on Red Rum all 3 times that he won..... I think he made enough to get himself a bottle of rum each time :D

The good thing about the National is that even if you haven't got a clue about horse racing... you can pick a winner just by liking the name or the number (in Mish's case!!) or in KK's case he liked the stars on the jockey's shirt :D

AJ Fife said...

I'm the same, never went down the gambling road, mainly because I'm too tight!!:))) The National is good fun and we always seem to pick the winner somehow. Most we ever won was £146 two or three years ago!!:))

I have to say £216 was a result and a half!!!:)) Did Mr A place the bet?

anna said...

No.... I placed the bet and I placed one for him as well!! :) I just phoned it thro' to William Hill.. its quite easy .. they just pay the winnings back into your bank account :D

Don't even have to go out the door!! :D

Altho' when I drove through town just before the start of the race.... the bookies looked to be doing a good trade, considering the amount of people and cars outside!! :D

AJ Fife said...

Right....I have the scenario in my head.....Anna dressed in a three piece suit and sporting shades..... swiggin' gin......bookie telephone account betting......KK in harness to come up with tips or nae sugarpuffs in the morning......Mr A has nae idea of the betting scandal sweeping through his hoose!!!

Anna....what are you doin'!!!:D

anna said...

Great scenario ...... AJ... :D

Poor Mr A and KK .... my heart goes out to them :D

Anything interesting happening on the Scotsman? It looked a bit slow today... just some stuff about trade unions - yawn!

Ooh.... must just trot off for a sec.... got to put a bet on a dead cert running in the 2.30 at Haydock! :DD

AJ Fife said...

I've added a bit on the Shelty Shitty and Richard Gere story(Entertainment and International). Of course my contribution is less than serious!!:)))

anna said...

Good one about the effigies..... made me laugh anyway :D

AJ Fife said...

Effigies R Us

GWB - 20 rupees
TB - 10 rupees
Cliff - 150 rupees
Ant and Dec - 2 rupees

Anna we could make a fortune!!:D

AJ Fife said...

Have a look at the Glamour against Grime story(Entertainment) - it's a Firozalli classic!!:D

anna said...

I'll check it out.... Fizorolli is starring quite well on that Gere/Shilpa effigy story as well. What is he on about?

We need an effigy of Dot Cotton from DeadEnders as well.... she really gets on my nerves. Come to think of it knock off an effigy of all the cast .... they're bound to be wanted somewhere!! :D

Btw: Have you been watching that Great British Menu series on BBC 2? This week its the turn of the Scots... so Nick Nairn (who can cook me a meal anytime!!!)... is up against this really camp Scottish chef ... who is so funny.:D

Put St. Jamie Oliver on the effigy list as well .... he's starting to get on my nerves a bit now as well :D

The possibilities could be endless I can see the marketing now ...... anytime someone annoys you ... we'll knock out an effigy for you and you can burn it.... brilliant stress reliever!! :D

AJ Fife said...

Dot Cotton is always on fire - with her permanent fag!! She should have been sacked ages ago by Mr Poupadoupapaloupaloupaoulaps, as she stinks everyones laundry with her ghastly cigarettes!!:)

Yer a wee bit harsh on young Oliver - did KK put you up to it, cos he wants to eat chips?

Melanie said...

howdy!

an article I commented on in the wee hours, now seems to have gone the way of pay to read?? how odd!

will have a look at the other articles, my horsebetting friends!! :))

anna said...

St Jamie's effigy deserves to be burnt..... I'm fed up to the back teeth of pushing pies and chips through the railings to KK and his mates every day!!! :D

I think the Beckham effigies would sell well and Jordan and partner (whatever his name is)..... Have to watch what material we used for her assets tho' ... don't want them exploding and injuring innocent bystanders :D

AJ Fife said...

Horsebetting, horsepushing....there seems to be a theme here!!!

Hi Melanie :))

Melanie said...

horsebetting, cowtipping, sheep...shearing (not fun, assisted to do once)

I commented on Gere, and grime...sorry I'm late to the party...overslept...could it have been the Gewurstminer (Fetzer winery) I had last nite?...nice dessert wine, or maybe a good one to go with spicy foods.

anna said...

Peajay..... naughty ... naughty... now who is leading who astray?

Hi Melanie... :)

AJ Fife said...

When I die, I want to come back as a Melanie!!:))

"Ooooh, what wine will one scoff tonight, one wonders"!!:D

Melanie said...

oh, so yer jest finally noticin me are ya, AJ?! ;)

Melanie said...

oh, get out of here, mister....look at you! You are JUST as bad when you drop the wine names yer drinkin!

Melanie said...

I was just trying to share my experiences, and I like when you mention what wine you've had...I usually put it on my list to try if I have never tasted it!!

Come back as a Melanie, my a*se!!

but if ya emigrate (or visit), I promise you a tiramasu baked alaska!! ;)

anna said...

AJ.... well, if you laid off the Buckie a bit.. you might be able to afford a nice wine!! :D

We've been drinking some Australian stuff that Mr A brought back from France a while back. He brought a lot back..... just as well its quite nice!! :D

anna said...

I think Peajay's been at the Buckie .... she's getting very uninhibited on that Effigies blog. :D

AJ Fife said...

I think Melanies have quite good lives, thank you very much!!

What about your cousin talking about blowtorches!! This is the devilish side to Peajay!!:D

Melanie said...

perhaps it's too much exposure to the American cousin??! :/ :)

AJ Fife said...

She's a cheeky wee thing that cousin of yours Melanie!!:) Insinuating that I need the Viagras!!!:))

Tsk tsk

Even Anna has steered clear of any undercarriage themed insults!!:D

Melanie said...

oh, but I added something....forgive the typo, the 2nd add should have been go with

Melanie said...

AJ, darned if you didn't duck out the door quickly!!! You're the one that mentioned feathers!!! ;)

Cyber-pals, what a laugh, glad I caught the tail end of it!!

Anna, Peajay are you staying on and posting? Let me know, I'll back ya up!!!

Peajay said...

Hello all, am I still welcome as a 'cheeky wee thing'? :DD

Peajay said...

Have added a comeback for you Mel. Give it your best shot!

Melanie said...

Peajay, that comment was classic! and done in such a way that while it said very little, it sure said a whole lot...all done with class!!:DD

Peajay said...

Thanks Melanie, I have to go get dinner now but will be back a later hopefully.

Melanie said...

had to step away, but I did just respond to you...careful, tho we don't want to getted banned for too much silliness!!

Peajay said...

I added to yours and threw caution to the wind. :D

Melanie said...

back at ya cousin!!

AJ, Anna, please add your two cents as you please!! :)

Peajay said...

Ditto Cousin!!

Melanie said...

sorry, couldn't get back, Peajay, but an Australian left an interesting message.

My posting tapered off due to paying attention to the SgtMjr. It's probably going to be our only day off together this month! (he still received work calls all morning, ugh!) But, I do get dinner out tonite, Japanese... I think I'll pass on the saki, though!

Have you all had saki?? The one time I had it, it sent me for a loop! It seemed more like 'rocket fuel' than wine!

AJ, if you come back as a Melanie that means you have to wear women's underwear! I'm surprised Anna didn't pick up on that fact!! ;))x

Anna, dreadful news, sort of...my horse, Slim Pickings, ...I asked my friend to put our bet three ways for that particular horse...her hubby didn't get the message and put only to win....no moolah for me! :(

Melanie said...

Good Morning!

I'm out the door to work soon...I'll miss your banter, but I'm glad to be away from the Virginia blogs, pheww!

Peajay, thanks for the weather widget!! :) (I put it in C for ya folks!...I noticed there was no humidity measurement....ah, well, that's cause there ain't none here!! just kidding, but I think it was at 15% yesterday)

AJ Fife said...

Hi Melanie,

Never tried saki before, but I bet I wouldn't like it. Someone told me it was like puccine....yuuuch!!:)

The effigy blog was good fun yesterday and I've tried to continue the theme today by advertising effigies on a few different blogs - not many takers though!! Maybe it's just us with a warped sense of humour!!:D

btw, ma pal's ghostie party are mentioned on the politic section!!

anna said...

I've tried saki..... well, I would, wouldn't I? :D Its OK but not a drink I would be in any rush to try again! Very potent and stronger than wine ... in the way that a neat spirit is ... but not as tasty as brandy or whisky...

I do quite like some sushi tho'.. the wasabi sauce is nice and hot... and I like quite a lot of the fish... I'm not so keen on that black stuff that they wrap round the sticky rice tho'... :)

Anyway ... I've avoided the main boards today... I'm very sorry about the shootings in Virginia but there are too many people arguing about gun laws on there .... for my taste and getting a bit nasty as usual
:( .. so I'm staying clear of it.

Anyway ... I'll try and catch up with you all tomorrow.... its the Ancient Egyptian thing tomorrow ... so I'll be hoping to look exactly like Nefertiri ... you know the beautiful Egyptian woman!! :D Ah well, we all have our fantasies!! :D

At least I'll be somebody's mummy!! :D

Peajay said...

Anna, I'm sure KK often appreciates you going out well wrapped up! ;D

Did I miss something with the 'Ancient Egyptian thing'? Have I failed to see the hieroglyphics on the wall? :)

Melanie said...

yes, Anna, brief reminder for the Egyptian fest, please...and I agree about the Wasabi and some of the fish sushi/sashimi, yummy...but I'll pass on the octopus, uni, and eel!!

Right to stay away from the gun blogs...I added my two cents yesterday, and a tad this morn...but I think that subject is almost as bad as debating politics or religion! I wrote with as much logic, factual info, and less emotion as I could, but it still really is an endless debate.

The flower-child hippie in me would absolutely prefer 'make love, not war', but then wakey wakey, the reality of history, present circumstances and human nature sets in, and well, there you go....the insanity of the debate continues....

so, on to better topics....Anna, or should I say, ma'lady, I will go and retrieve some Palm fronds to wave in your honour tomorrow!! ;))

Peajay, great comeback to the Australian on the Gere blog... :))

AJ, I'll have a look at the ghostie party...right to stay away from the saki...ooh, will send you into orbit, but watch out for the crash landing!!

speak with ya tomorrow! nite!

AJ Fife said...

Melanie,

Do you know what a fluffer is? I'm meeting ma pal Nelly's new American Girlfriend this Saturday, she works for the Playboy empire and does something called fluffing!!!

Anna,

Best of luck with the Nefertiti thing, I sure you'll look great - any chance of a photo?!!:))

Peajay,

You're too quick for all the bozos on the Scotsman....especially me!!:D

Melanie said...

AJ, the first thing that comes to mind is she is a hair and make-up artist for the 'bunnies' prior to their photo shoots, etc. I googled the word...there is another definition!! (not to disparage the poor girl) but let's hope she's not working on the side tending to male, a-hem, actors!!! :/

I have a staff meeting from 08 to 10 today :( but, I'll be back on here later.

Peajay said...

Thanks AJ, my parents despair at my near-the-knuckle innuendo! But you have to see the lighter side of life or it just grinds you down.

Melanie said...

Hi guys, sorry, my internet connection was down all day...

Anna, ma'lady, how was your day of Pharoahtabulous festivities?!!

some fun friday possiblities....

Good morning!!

Is it a busy Friday, rather than fun Friday??!!

If I'm not on per normal, our internet connection has been a bit crazy

anna said...

Hi all,

Isis reporting back .... :D That was my Egyptian name yesterday... which I thought was rather nice ;)

It was a really good day..everyone was dressed as an Egyptian with names to match. A company called 'History of the Page' were there, they are staffed by teachers and do themed historical days. Egyptian, Tudor, Victorian, WW2 etc, etc.

So, we had Egyptian crafts in the morning...about 10 different activities for the kids to get stuck into. My table was embalming and wrapping mummies!! Which consisted of grinding spices for perfumes and wrapping wooden dummies :)

Then in the afternoon we had a banquet ... and the children role played various parts.

It was great .... KK was full of it when he got home and all the kids seemed to be enthralled.... it really brought history to life for them. Very impressed :D

Melanie said...

Hi Anna, glad you had a fun time!!

AJ/Peajay....hey, busy bees,
?!que' paso!? (what's happenin!?)

I've been having fun hashing it out on the gunman blog...but this time adding as much humour as I could where appropriate!

Have a great weekend!

AJ Fife said...

Hi Cyber Pals,

Hope you are all well. I've been busy trying to do uni work, so that's why the lack of silliness on my part today!!:)

Glad the Egypt thing went well Anna. How did your asp look in your frock?

Peajay, how was that?

Melanie,

Nelly's girlfriend is a make up artist for Playboy!!!!!! It's gonna be an interesting conversation tomorrow night!!:D

Melanie said...

my weather widget is a typical weatherforecaster...it's been raining all day, nae sun!!!

AJ, darlin, glad to have ya back with us, this eve!!!

...This is your assignment, if you choose to accept it....

#1 take notes with lots of adjectives on all the dirty secrets of the most famous/infamous bunnies

#2 take even more notes on all of the infamous bunny pool parties at H's house....including the goings on in the grotto!!

#3 get her to admit to the photo airbrushing, and computer enhancements and alterations

#4 ask her if she's ever moonlighted for playgirl...and ask her if those guys are really all gay!

anna said...

Hi all,

AJ... a couple of questions...

Is Nelly a girl?

Are you trying to get a shot in Playboy?

If so, will you be asking Nelly's girlfriend to give you a Brazillian?

Will you be posting pictures on your blog?
;D

Saw you at work on the shoot-em-up blog Lanna.. you're still getting some bites on there. :)

I've only posted on the water story today.......:)

AJ Fife said...

Nelly is a bloke - ma pal from NYC - well he was there for 18 mths or so!!

I'll try and get all the info you ask Mel and maybe it could be the start of a new career - jist dinny tell Mrs AJ!!:D

Maybe Mrs AJ can get tips on the fluffing business!!:) I'll pass them on to you girls, if yer men need a bit o' coaxin'!!!:)))

anna said...

Ah, good I was wondering about Nelly!! :D

I used to have an Auntie Nelly..... short for Eleanor.... so you can see how the misunderstanding came about...:D

I won't be mentioning any bits of fluff to Mr A.... don't want him to get the wrong idea... now do we? Call me possessive if you like!! :D

Melanie said...

AJ, by which definition are you discussing 'fluffing'...I will then be able to apply the term, coaxing, to my understanding of what you said!!!

Anna, I wonder if your term 'Brazilian' is what I understand to be 'Brazilian'...with regard to 'hair' styles

okay, enough!!

yes, got some hits, but only one really nasty one from that Galac. Cann....who is probably all talk and no go.

Had some fun on the flowers blog, one of the addresses I gave earlier

Enjoy your weekend and I'll check in as I can...I might have to work Sat bye!

anna said...

Yes Brazillian IS that sort of hairstyle !!!:D

Back, sac and crack......... sorry was that too much? :D

I'm feeling frivolous for some reason this morning.... maybe its the lovely weather or something? Or maybe its the fluffing!! ;)

Anyway, I'll leave you in peace for now ..... talk to y'all later!! :)))

AJ Fife said...

Hi folks,

Hope you are all well. Anna seems to be a bit fruity this morning and Melanie is planning an offensive against the offensive Galactic Canonball:)) Go for it girls!!:D

Mrs AJ is working so the Mish Mash is giving her old man the run around, as per usual!!

Looking forward to the meal tonight - the wee Spanish resturant in a place called Kingskettle!! The village is famous for producing the children entertainers "The Singing Kettle". The Mish loves the DVDs, but they drive me potty!!!:))

I have to be on my best behaviour, well at least at the start, Nelly says she gets a right slagging of about the Fluffing in NYC, but she takes it pretty well. She IS a make up artist, but that could be worse!!!!!:D

Weather has finally turned here, miserable day, cloudy and cold with rain threatening!:(

Have a great Saturday and I'll speak to you all on Sunday, or in the next hour if you're about (Mish is now having a nap).

AJ Fife said...

A shame to hear about the death of Scaramouche:( On the LibDem story I have suggested a truce today. AM2 and Bill from Dunblane are in agreement.

anna said...

Hi AJ,

Sorry you on the Brown board, offering condolences to Scaramouche's family.

I've commented on the Virginia Tech story in the Int section but not to get embroiled in the gun debate. I just think the actions of the professor who barred the door to the killer to allow his students to escape was extremely admirable....

It reminds me of the Dunblane tragedy and the teacher who tried to save her little pupils.

True courage :)

Anyway, hope you enjoy your Spanish meal.... try not to drool to much at the fluffy lady ;)..... Mrs AJ might pour Sangia all over your head to cool you down :D

We're going out for a curry tonight ..... KK is coming along as well.. so he will enjoy that :)

anna said...

sorry I meant SangRia!! :D

anna said...

And Saw you on the Brown story..... not sorry!!

My fingers don't know how to spell today!! :D

AJ Fife said...

Hi Anna,

I sorry you too:))

Enjoy the Ruby, but will you give KK a whole chili pepper to prove his manhood?:)))

The Sanghria could be flowing right enough, but Nelly's wumin is 41, so I'm unlikely to be drooling!!;))

Do you want a banjo or a baseball bat?!!:D

anna said...

Oh right.. so she's a geriatric fluffy bunny.....

Will they let her out of the 'auld-age' home for the night, or is there a curfew, when the puir auld biddy has to be back in bed by?

Pass me that baseball bat would you?

AJ Fife said...

There's many a guid tune played on an auld fiddle!!!:D

Melanie said...

Anna, I'll accompany you with the banjo, got one right here!!! ;)

only up to give Dr D her antibiotic (wee thing has a sinus infec)

I'm back to my pillow for a bit, then hopefully around for the day (touch wood that I'll stay on-call)

anna said...

Melanie ... hope Dr D is better soon :)

AJ.... don't try to get it out of your punishment by paying us backhanded compliments now (tune/auld fiddle!!).
You're for it ma lad!! :D

Will you be polishing your heid for the occasion? :)

Melanie said...

anyone still out playing???

Peajay said...

Miss a day and it all gets a bit surreal. Will be re-reading to try and catch up about geriatric Brazilian landing strips, cracks, fluffs, not at all sure how it got to this.

anna said...

Peajay... its the auld dears on here ...... we like a bit of a cackle!! :D

Well, we enjoyed our curry very much..... and KK thoroughly enjoyed his first 'sit-down' meal in an Indian restaurant :).

Melanie .... Thanks for the back-up on that blog about those female abusers who goaded those children into fighting. What a crowd of witches.... I know what I'd like to have done to them.. but its not allowed anymore.

Peajay, have you been watching the thing about finding a Joseph on BBC 1 - Any Dream Will Do?
If so, who do you fancy for the part? I think Lee is good and Daniel has a lovely voice :)

Wonder how AJ... is getting on with the fluffy lady. Wonder if he's got one of those Playboy bunny suits on yet :D Bet the ears are annoying him ..... but the tail will be cute :D :D

Melanie said...

AAAGGHHH!!!! Anna, you are absolutely wonderfully terrible!

Shrek in the Playgirl version of the bunny suit....G-string with a Brazilian wearing nothing but a tie....forget the ears!! Hey, I wonder if the SgtMjr will humour me with the same!!!! Bunny want a carrot??! :DD

Peajay said...

What are you two like!!

Yes I have been watching Any Dream Will Do. My money's on Keith even though he looks like a wee boy. Didn't think this evening's voting was right as it should really have been the one who sang flat, but I guess the one that left wasn't really Joseph and Chris does have very scary teeth! :)

Melanie said...

Peajay, Anna started it!!!

Anna, always willing to back up a pal!! :)

Isn't it incredible...the tribute to Scaramch. by all the posters!!!

Peajay said...

Oh, but you fnished it Melanie!!!! I am now left with a vision which I don't need to go to ma beid with! Thanks. :DD Shrek, g-strings, Brazilians! None of these should be uttered in the same sentence!! And certainly not this late for fear of inducing night terrors! ;D

Melanie said...

oohh, apologies Peajay, apologies!!

perhaps a bedtime story is in order to dispel any nightmares...you know, the type of stories/films starring those absolutely hunkish men you just want to drool over!!! ;))

Melanie said...

Peajay,
you are well in order to blame my behavior on the SgtMjr...for going away yet again...it's causing me to go loopy, loony, lose it...whatever appropriate adjective fits!!! :)

AJ, I tease ya, cause ah like ya...but ah think ya know that! :)

Peajay said...

Am off ta ma beid now Melanie. Thanks for the entertaining evening both blog and email.:) I will try to guide my dreams towards a visual feast of hunkiness as opposed to the aforementioned scaryfest. ;D
Speak tomorrow, enjoy the rest of your day.
G'nite

Melanie said...

nite, Peajay!

funny note...I was lightly rubbing the SgtMjr's 'over-40' belly while sitting next to him on the sofa...he looked at me and said, 'made a wish, yet?'
(tradition/myth: rub the Buddha's belly, then make a wish!)
aagh, men!!

AJ Fife said...

Well the Fluffer is really a freelance make-up artist who occasionally does Playboy photo shoots, but mainly she follows the big fashion shows in New York, Milan, Paris and London. So a very interesting evening indeed!!:)

She did mention about the touching up of the centrefolds!!;)

Nelly seems very happy, so it's a good thing, apart from the Atlantic Ocean seperating them!:(

Hope you are all behaving today!!:))

Melanie said...

Hi AJ,

I'm sitting here quite prim and proper, thinking quite prim and proper thoughts, holding a cup of fresh brewed wildly wonderful strong coffee!!!

Melanie said...

oh, Please! add your expertise in written wit to this one:

I'm hoping I didn't embarrass myself too much! oh well!! blame it on the beer!! :)

AJ Fife said...

Melanie, that's the sort of post I would come up with!!:))

Well done you!!:D

anna said...

I've made a comment on the sex, car, dog blog ;)

Glad to hear your friend is happy with his fluffy lady... AJ... that's the important thing :)

Long distance love affairs and marriages can work.... I know that... Mr A has tried to escape from me loads of times ..... over the Irish Sea, the Atlantic, the Med, the Gulf, the Indian Ocean.... but I've managed to drag him back!!! :D

Sorry ... I had to bale out of the chat at the weekend... Peajay and Melanie .. but I had things to do... on Sun.

Peajay... know what you mean about Chris's teeth ... they've been bleached haven't they? I like the wee Scots laddie Keith as well... but I don't think he's old enough to play Joseph yet.. altho' I like his voice :)

Any other good stories today?

Peajay said...

I believe that Chris's daddy's a dentist and think he inflicted veneers on the poor boy, leaving him looking like he has to many teeth for his mouth. He certainly has the Colgate ring of confidence!! :)

anna said...

Crikey... Melanie ... after reading your comment on the sex, car, dog blog.... I'm wondering if it was only the Sgt Mjr's belly that you were rubbing ;)

anna said...

Ladies.... check out AD's link on the sex, car, dogblog ;)

WOW..... its enough to make your eyes water!! ;)

Will you look .... AJ?

Melanie said...

Anna,Wow, the calendar was good, but to be honest, they're all a little too pretty!! If you understand what I mean....doesn't mean I won't look though!!!

AJ, I was hoping that it would come across as funny rather than smutty....you never know with word differences across the pond!!!
(I could've put 'boot' instead of bonnet, but I thought that might be too much!)

Peajay, how're ya feelin today?

anna said...

Yes, I know what you mean ... Melanie... but I wasn't really looking at their faces ;)

I do like a nice firm pair of rounded buttocks and strong thighs on a male model!!!

Sorry... too much? ;)

Was that sexist ... AJ?

Melanie said...

posting anywhere else?!

Anna, I used to be an assistant athletic trainer for men's college rugby...I didn't follow them into the showers, but boy did they have some legs, bums and shoulders!! woohoo!!

I suppose this is sexist! girls can look too!! ;))

Melanie said...

Anna, it's not too much...tho JG's funny about hairy chests...

.. you know, I've heard... 'grass don't grow on a playground!!'

if I want something furry, I'll buy a dog!!

-too much!?

anna said...

Very funny ... Melanie ... not too much!! :D

And I know what you mean.. .I don't like them too hairy either!! ... Men that is not dogs!! ;)

Melanie said...

Anna, I hope AJ recovers from the estrogen-fest!!!

AJ, your weight-loss comment was funny, and naughty!! I'm surprised you can read to post, darlin!!! ;))

Funny, they're weren't more takers/posters for the subject!!
... or are we all just the jaded ones! ;) (and the rest are secretly reading!!)

I'm away from the (SgtMjr's)desk at the moment but I might be back on later

...I'm hoping to get my computer de-fragged (and hopefully not bashed...did I say that I can be impatient at times?!!! ;) ).
So, if I'm not back, it means no access.

have a great eve all!!!

AJ Fife said...

I've come out of my self imposed exile. Hopefully you're all fast asleep after the shenanigans of soft porn viewing!!:)) Anna will be oot for a week!!

Peajay is extremely fruity too and needs to get a French rugby player double quick!!

Melanie was just misguided and did not know what she was saying!:)) The poor wee thing!!:D

Melanie said...

AJ, this poor misguided innocent will never be quite able to think the same about this TV show, when I again hear its name...'Buffy, the Vampire Slayer!'

nor, will posting on the Scotsman be quite the same after the rugby photos and that entire conversation!! :)

Melanie said...

Howdy,

I have to go to work today...so will catch up later!!!

Have a great day! :D

Melanie said...

AJ, had a brief glimpse at things, saw you extending the olive branch to AM...how diplomatic of you!! :)

bye for now!

anna said...

AJ... what do you mean Anna will be oot for the whole week.... ?

Oot for the count? :D

Mind you ... I bet more of those calendars get sold within the gay community than they do among women. :)

Give me Russell Crowe dressed a la Master and Commander any day of the week :D

Actually I'll rephrase that .... Please, please, please .. ad infinitum... give me Russell Crowe dressed a la Master and Commander every day of the week :D

Right... any good blogs anywhere today? :)

AJ Fife said...

Well that was something yesterday - I was the best behaved of our wee cleek!!!

I'm just on a couple of political blogs today Anna, haven't had time to search for 'funnies'!!!

anna said...

Yeah, saw you on the political blogs..

So, how's the mood in Scotland.... do you think the swing to the SNP will be sustained through to polling day? Or will the Lib-Dems get the 'not sures'?

I've been busy with college stuff.. this am... final exams in a couple of weeks .. so I'm going to have to step a bit lively with it.

So much work..... so little time
:(

I'm worn to a frazzle with it all !! :D
That board yesterday was a bit of light relief :D

Did you think JG was a guy then? Definitely not.... by the sound of things :)

anna said...

Thought I'd borrow your weather girl ...Melanie...so I've put one on my blog too!!! :D

Melanie said...

Anna, the weather girl is actually to Peajay's credit!!

...oh, I'll second that Russell Crowe image!!! Of course, I like shur Sean...and the accent, too!!! :))

JG, can have her Frenchies!!! ;))
(some of those photos did look as if they were for the gay community's liking more!!!! or, is that just being French!!! :D)

AJ, you win the best behavior prize for the day!!!!! (although, I'm a bit bruised from your ribbing me!!! ;))

Change of subject, ...May 3rd is coming up quick...I'm thinking the debates are going to be heating up even more so!

This is actually quite interesting for me! I'll have to phone my 93yr old granddad (Ray, Peajay) to see if he's even following it...He's quite Queen and country...tho is mum was Scottish, and he's been a US citizen since the 60's (he told me once, very seriously, "it was for economic purposes only, you understand!" :))

Well, I should be around tomorrow...my computer survived me trying to fix it!!! :/ :)

speak with ya later!

AJ Fife said...

Hi Anna,

I knew JG was a wumin, I was just probing(so to speak) to see if she had any lesbian tendancies....as you do!!:))

Horrible Cankers is back and should be performing this evening. I made contact on the Iran wumin story!!:)

The political debate is heating up now and things are getting a wee bit nasty on the boards(if that was possible!)!! Good for my hobby of baiting though!!:D

Hope today finds you all well! Melanie should be up and about now....maybe hinging oot the washin'!!:))

Melanie said...

No washin, yet....just sippin on some coffee

Anna's gonna get you for that!

Melanie said...

AJ, where are you posting? I haven't received my morn copy, I'm reading from yests...

AJ Fife said...

I've been doing a bit on the new planet story(science), poofy cottaging PM story(UK), Pricess Di(UK), politics- but gave up and the tehran women ankles story(international).

Anna, will be fine, although I've been a wee bit on the cheeky side lately!!:) She may give me a good going over with her tongue......lashing!!:))

Melanie said...

AJ,

I've only commented on the doctor/suicide one, but it seems the comments were removed your early morning...I wonder if people were getting nasty? No where else

Where have you seen HC?

It's hard to get momentum up, it seems...your comments were good, but no one's biting, really

anna said...

AJ ... I'll give you a tongue lashing alright...

Are you finding it hard to keep momemtum up? You poor auld thing!! :D

This is beginning to sound salicious (great word!!) ... or is that just my bad mind? ;)

Well hope everyone is well .... I've been having a look at the main story Nats v Unis ... I keep getting this feeling of deja vu ... they said all that stuff yesterday, and the day before and the day before and the day before...... you get the picture? :D

I'll have a look at the other boards.

anna said...

Sorry that should be salacious!! My spelling has gone more to pot than usual!! :D

Melanie said...

The Global warming article is interesting...makes me want to get a copy of the DVD for both sides and compare.

Melanie said...

AJ,
found your post to HC on the ankle blog, missed it the first time...she answered you back, sarcastically, of course

Anna,
I'm not sure if it's lack of momentum, or we're just in resolution, from all that heated posting!!! ;)

Melanie said...

AJ,
must have just missed you on the ankle story...where is JG spilling the beans to HC??!!!
...not that you're helping!!!
I suppose I deserve any teasing coming forthwith!!! ;)

AJ Fife said...

Hi Melanie,

Sorry I'm trying to write my latest essay(it's not happening:(

I keep getting drawn back on to the Scotsman and really trying to bait and take the micky - but only nibbles so far:))

I think I spoke to HC on either the Tehran or the Cottaging blog(UK).

Wotcha up to?

Melanie said...

Hi AJ,

I have to go pick the kids up from a school function, and then some errands...I'll try to leave you a morning note...who knows, what blogs I might find for us...for a Thrilling Thursday!!! ;D

Melanie said...

Well, good morning to you!!!
...tis late here, and ahm off ta bed...I've no access to the Scotsman right now ...'gateway timeout' or something...

let me know if there is anything for thrilling Thursday!! ;)

Speak with you in a few!!

AJ Fife said...

Hi Melanie,

Are you still in your scratcher?

There's very little going on today, although the Prince Harry stories could maybe come to something - not in a fun way however:)

Quiet at the work, I was hoping to lock horns with Anna, but she's obviously busy with her hair brush!!:))

anna said...

Busy with my hairbrush .. AJ? What does that mean? :)

Well, I've been a tad busy myself this morning.. so no time to blog..:(

The main story looks boring ... the SNP are going to ruin us, no they're not, yes they are, no they're not, yes they are.... ah F*&$ off you *Nat/*Unionist
*delete as applicable :D

I'll have a look at the Prince Harry one :)

Has anyone commented anywhere?

Melanie said...

Hello, I'm about and getting my coffee!!

How are you all this morning?! :)

AJ Fife said...

The hairbrush was mentioned yesterday on the cottaging Ted Heath scandal story;)

I'll get the baseball bat ready!:D

AJ Fife said...

Hi Melanie,

I'm fine:) You had a late one last night!?

Melanie said...

yep, but I was behaving, only one glass of wine!! :) Had a dinner to go to for kids receiving awards for an essay contest. One of the SgtMyr's friends sponsors it. Good to see kids doing good..if ya know what ah mean!! :) (no neds at that dinner!! ;))

not to put neds, the thought of misbehaving children and Prince Harry all in the same post...but which section is that in???!! ;)

AJ Fife said...

He's either in the ned section or the UK one!!

Melanie said...

ah, there's a fiesty mister in parlour this morning?!

What on earth should I do with this fella?! ;)

Melanie said...

AJ,
what was the meaning for 'fore-lock tugging', again...heard it before, but can't remember exactly its meaning...Guga/auntie blog used it in reference to what the islanders used to do...

AJ Fife said...

Fore-lock tugging is like a bow when paying respect to your betters! Or something like that1:))

Why do you ask Melanie?

anna said...

Forelock tugging is something that peasants used to do when the met the lord of the manor or the squire. It is also how the pressed men in the Navy used to salute officers...... you see it in Master and Commander!! :)

Ooh..... have I mentioned how much I like Russell Crowe as Captain Jack Aubrey before? If not.... can I just say COR!!! :D

Right off to look at the hairbrush thing.... AJ... I know you're in for a battering!! :D

Melanie said...

it was mentioned on the scottish auntie blog, saying the tories wouldn't go to the islands or something, and they don't forelock tug anymore, anyway...sorry read it fast

I answered you and JG, btw...and on pharry as well

anna said...

AJ... well, honey chile... I've answered your hairbrush slander... but I'm still going to batter you!!

Pass me that garden rake!! :D

Melanie said...

finally, found the hairbrush story...

Anna, was AJ speaking of PrChas as daddy, or some other gingerhaired fellow...I seem to remember a hint of a scandal.....

AJ Fife said...

One super model coming up!!!

Are we being unfair on young Harry? He might read the Scotsman y'know!!

OK....it's full steam ahead!!:D

AJ Fife said...

Melanie,

I was referring to the scoundrel James Hewitt, the well known cad and bounder, and the populist choice as the real father of mental Harry!!

Melanie said...

oh, AJ, the hairbrush comment was naughty!! tee hee!

the countdown to eve home has begun,AJ

...will you all be around later?? I should be home most of today in case anyone wants to chat later

Melanie said...

whoops, where did the comments go on the cottaging story...glad I saw some of the better ones before they were zapped to nowhereland by the intergalactic patrol!!!

AJ Fife said...

Got to go hame! Melanie, there are two cottage stories, it's the most recent one you want!!:))

See ya!
