These are a few pics of the Eastern Sierra Nevadas....famous for its gorgeous high mountain lakes and its dangerous
auto-cable chewing marmots!
'Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.'

McFadden is an Everton player which is the team that young Rhys supported.

He is also a Scotland player.

Speak to you tomorrow Melanie... hope you're feeling better soon :))

Congrats AJ! sounds like it was a good game....for 'soccer'!!! (just kidden, actually the sport of football is growing on me, not like a moss, but I'm actually starting to enjoy watching it more)

anna said...

Come you Lithuanians... all of England are rooting for you ..... anyone but Scotland!! :D :D :D

My prediction:

Scotland 0 Lithuania 3

England 2 Israel 1

Melanie... they've not actually played the games yet... AJ is trying to wind up the 'auld enemy'... me and Peajay!! :D

But I'm on to him :D

Hi AJ..

Just felt I had to say that !! :D :D

How you doing... ?

Melanie said...

funny Anna, well, I guess he had the uninformed 'yank' fooled!? ;)

Well, the kids are settling back into the school routine. the tween has his first football/soccer match today...so he's all nervous. Anna, I understand what you mean about the nerves and wanting to do well. My kids each have their own way with that (including their mother).

The SgtMjr and I do not have uni degress either (save for my associates in nursing). We're just doing our best to guide/encourage their natural talents...forming hopefully a path into a career which will be successful and rewarding (things we wish our parents had done...ah well) ;))

Hopefully you're enjoying your Sat!! will speak with ya soon!! :))

Melanie said...

Ps. as far as my other 'identity'....I'm not out blogging 'behind yer backs'...it's for working with the SgtMjr's blog, 'cause I wish to do my best to limit uninvited passerbys to 'our place'!! ;)))

anna said...

Hi Melanie..... :))

Well, oor AJ was wrong anyway...the matches have now been played and the results were:

England 3 Israel 0 ...... yes, you beauties!! :D

and unfortunately...

Scotland 2 Lithuania 1....:((((((

However, continuing with the Good News....

England beat USA in their opening match of the Rugby World Cup.... and the cherubs of the England Cricket Team beat India!! :D :D

So, an excellent day .... don't you agree AJ!! :D :D

I can hear you grinding your teeth and swearing from here..... stop muttering laddie!! :D

anna said...

Sorry it was even worse news:

Scotland 3 Lithuania 1....

So not bad (for Scotland)... but England never let Israel score any goals did they AJ???????? :D

And don't start bleating about penalties!! :D :D :D :D :D

Melanie said...

Congratulations for the wins!! (Anna, you are so kind in your triumph!! ;))))

and, bad for the USA team (and bad for me, that I didn't know that they were even playing!!! :( :D )

Do you know if there's a radio station via internet that I can tune in for the rugby??
I heard a snatch of the football games via the bbc radio live.

My tween won his game today and scored one of the two goals..whoo hoo!! ;D

ciao!

Peajay said...

Hi all,
That's what we love about Anna, she never over does the celebrations of our glorious wins, never rubs in when we've done better than others, always appears impartial. :DDD
The last night of the Proms was also on this evening and kind of rounded off the English day with much flag waving and patriotic, bellicose chauvinism and crowd pleasing anthems. :DD

AJ Fife said...

Hi Guys,

Hope you all had a good and funfilled weekend!!! Sporting achievements all over....apart from the US who succumbed to a poor and boring England rugby team!!!;)

anna said...

Hi AJ....

Right about England's poor showing against the USA in the Rugby. They should have done much better than that.

However, maybe the USA wasn't as easy a team as Portugal who the Scots played.

Its easy to look good against a poor team!! :D :D :D :D

But blind patriotism aside you are correct England may have won but they played very poorly and on that showing they'll be lucky to go thro' to the next round.

Still, we can't be World Champions every year ... have to let you Scots have a crack at it sometimes!! :D

How are you ... anyway cherub?

Sore heid at the weekend?

AJ Fife said...

Hi Anna,

Nae sair heid!!! Just was busy doing Mrs AJ's bidding!!:D

It was an interesting sporting weekend!!:))

Have a look on the main football story - I've been accused of being "unionist filth"!!! I slagged off Eire's inactivity in the Second World War!!!!:D

Melanie said...

Hi all!!

this is going to be a problem...I need to find a way to hear/see the games/matches...either that, or you'll need to take notes and give me blow by blow description!!! :)

how are you all??!!

anna said...

I'll have a look at the footie story AJ.... I bet that didn't go down well with the 'Scots patriots' with Fenian sympathies/relations!!! :D

Hi Melanie

Can't you tune into one of the UK broadcasters via the Internet?

They have the Radio stations on it :)

AJ Fife said...

Hi Mel,

I'm fine thanks honey. Yes I think it maybe a tad difficult understanding the banter if you don't know what's going on!!! Big soccer matches coming up on Wednesday again - England v Russia and France v Scotland!!!!

AJ Fife said...

Anna,

No, it didn't....I'm branded a Hun/ Brit and Unionist Scum!!:D

It started with more than a touch of humour, but the Maranga boy bit and the rest is history!!!:D

AJ Fife said...

Got to go....see ya!!!!

anna said...

Melanie try this link for the Rugby World Cup coverage:

http://www.itv.com/sport/

I don't think it will be on radio because I don't think ITV do radio and they are covering the WC. However, they are the presenters of the WC and you should be able to stay in touch and watch clips of the matches on that site.

For other sports you can try BBC Radio 5 Live at this link:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/

They have a list of programmes on there as well.

Hope that helps :))

AJ... I'll check out the footie board... I bet it got bloody on there.. Some people have no sense of humour!!! :D :D :D

You should have got Pud involved as well... they guy would have gone into orbit :D

Melanie said...

Hi Anna,

thanks for the links. I do tune in to radio bbc/Scotland, Ulster and sometime nan Gaidheal for the variety of music, news, and some of the other comedy/cultural shows. I haven't explored it for the sports yet, but I will.

The other day I was listening to a show...'music from 60's era California' via Ulster!! Gosh, I love the internet!!!! :DD

Hi all...

Been having a few problems with the internet connection so not able to post for a while :(

AJ.... how about that then? Mr A was flicking between the England match, the Scotland match and the Rugby .. but we saw McFadden's goal... very good goal... the French looked stunned!! :D :D :D.....

Bit of a dilemma who to support... for us poor English.... Anyone but Scotland but ... it was against le frogs so...... after the cracking goal we thought Scotland deserved the win!! :D :D :D

England did well too... but I think they should be able to beat Russia but with their past form ... who knows - so Mr A was relieved .... that's why he kept flicking the programmes - sometimes England are so frustrating to watch that he has to turn them off!! :D :D :D

Hi Melanie....

How are you? I've not been neglecting you deliberately... we just had a gremlin in the computer. Hopefully sorted now!! :D

Well, I had an unanticipated evening in the emergency room tonite...only 5 hours, a shockingly short stay!! The tween broke his arm at soccer/football practice, thankfully not badly. It's currently in a splint, and we see the bone doc tomorrow.

The tween was remarkably calm thru out, and is now having pizza and soda upon his triumphant return home; as well as he's being sweetly cared for by the sisters with whom only hours before he was arguing with!!! :DDD

AJ Fife said...

Mel,

Sorry to hear the bad news, but he'll be a wee sodjer and get through it!!! Glad to hear the women folk are doing their bit!!!:D

I remember being hurt when I was young. In a strange way, it was good to feel important and the center of attention for a little while!!:)Hope the wee lad milks it for all it's worth!:D

Melanie said...

Hi AJ,

thanks!! His grands got to the soccer/footbal field first and took him to (the) hospital
(I always thought it funny ya'll left out the (the)! :)

He did quite well, and has been very stoic with it all....although we go to the doc today to see what needs to be done next (reduced and casted). :/

slightly less important...are you posting anywhere?! :)

AJ Fife said...

Just done a bit on the sports, nothing special.

I'm off early today, so hopefully I'll catch up later on!!:)

Have great day ma wee Californian flower!!:D

Melanie said...

bye AJ!

nice to have an early Friday! :)

anna said...

Sorry to hear about your little guy, Melanie ... glad to hear everyone's making a fuss of him tho'!! :D

Still, a worrying time for you....tho'

When my older sister broke her wrist ... I remember being quite jealous of all the fuss and attention she received :D :D Plus loads of her pals signed the plaster cast which I thought was fairly cool at the time !! :D :D

anna said...

Just watching England versus S.Africa in the Rugby WC......blimey its depressing ... England are cr*p!!

Its enough to drive you to drink! :D :D :D

Anonymous said...

drink?! did someone say drink?! ;DD

the tween survived the reduction and casting quite well!! However, he's upset that he'll possibly be missing at least 6 weeks of soccer/football...I told him if the doc gave him the ok, he could still play...the verdict is still out...

Have to work tomorrow for 8 hrs, then hopefully will make a friend's Oktoberfest...pending how the tween feels (the party is out of town about an 80 minute drive)
(she's hired a Polka-'oompah' Band...does this every year) :)

talk with ya soon!!! :)))

Peajay said...

Hi cyber pals,
Sorry for enforced absence, I've been decorating the sittingroom all week. It took three coats of paint to cover the last colour, plus re-papering the chimney wall before painting. If I don't see another paint brush for the time being I won't be sorry. :/
Did a craft fair on Saturday and reached an all time record for takings. Nothing!! :DD
Mel, so sorry about tweens incident hope he's better soon and back playing footie.

Anonymous said...

Hi all!

Anna,

Whit aboot Wee Eck fraternising with Charlie Big Lugs' mither?

Anonymous said...

Hi Peajay..do you hire out?!! ;D

AJ, xmas presents?, wow, that time again soon?! ;)

the tween is doing well, thanks!

Anna must be out having tea with the vicar's wife?! :)

anna said...

Hi all....

Just back from having a cup of char with Mrs Vicar!! :D

Hope you're all OK?

Ah well, AJ... you've all had it in Scotland .. Wee Eck is being seduced by the Establishment with a capital 'E'....

They all go the same way eventually!! :D :D

I'm starting back at college tomorrow .. I think I'm going to find it tough as I have been incredibly lazy for the last 2 months!

On a different note has anyone seen the film Atonement yet? Any plans to go?

I've just finished the book.. I was determined to read it before I saw the film, as I did try it a couple of years ago and gave up after the first 2 chapters. Anyway I persevered this time and it was worth it - a very good read!

I think he wrote the leading lady with Keira Knightley in mind tho' as she will be absolutely perfect in that role :))

Anyway I'm looking forward to the film..... the second part of the book is about the retreat from Dunkirk and is an excellent piece of writing :)

Anonymous said...

Hi Anna,

haven't seen the movie yet...I haven't even seen the new Bourne movie :/

I was thinking of taking some college classes, but I'm going to wait for the mo, too much going on here. I do commiserate with having to study and all that...hard to get back into after a lazy summer! :)

I've not posted on the Scotsman, although some of the lads were being naughty and talking about Brazilians...on the genes and body odor one from yest.
I thought the Dracula castle one interesting...AJ's comment was funny

AJ Fife said...

Awrite there girls!!!

Atonement! If they left out the soppy bits and stayed with the Dunkirk battle scenes, I'd have given it a go!!:D

Watched the 'Wind that Shakes the Barley" the other night - powerful stuff!! Now, that's what I call a film, although young Keira is appealing!!!:D

AJ Fife said...

Mel, I like vampiry things, always worth a laugh!!!

Anonymous said...

Wind that shakes the Barley...want to see that one as well.

the new russell crowe western, 3:10 to Yuma is said to be good.

I'm laughing right now at the article (or should I say comments) on the men's bad handwashing....'yech' ;)))

Anonymous said...

oops, now the Scotsman is in a gateway time out...no more reading for the moment!

AJ Fife said...

I noticed that story!! It certainly had possibilities for a bit of 'toilet humour'!!!:)

That's the worst effort you'll read today!!

anna said...

I mentioned the Wind that Shakes the Barley a couple of weeks ago... ... and got no response!!! :)

Yes, very good film... I had to close my eyes at the fingernail bit tho' :( Really horrific..

The 'soppy stuff' in Atonement is the point of the film AJ.... ya philistine!!

That is the reason that Robbie is in the retreat at Dunkirk at all and a lowly private .... .had all the soppy stuff and the rape allegation and prison sentence not happened he would have been at medical school training to be a doctor in 1940, and there would have been no story!!! :))

Actually, have to say that Ian McEwan's description of the injuries suffered and conditions of the soldiers at Dunkirk is a powerful piece ...... All the more intense for the quiet, unsensational way he writes.

Nearly as evocative of an era as Sebastian Faulk's Birdsong.

In my humble opinion of course ... Squire!! :D :D

Anonymous said...

Anna,

I thought I commented back to you on that, 'cause I've been looking for that Irish movie in our rental stores...It's not in the theaters that I've seen....

AJ, the philistine.... ha! (I thought all Scotsmen had a touch of caveman??!!) ;DDDDD

AJ Fife said...

Ms Bossy Boots Anna,

Ha.... that'll be a first then!! :D :D

Melanie,

No .... none of you got back to me on the WTSTB film...... I felt snubbed!!! :)) :D

Any road up.... if you get the chance watch it.. very good... altho' we had a little bit of a problem understanding the very strong Irish accents at first.... however, that just made it seem more authentic... and we had to turn the sound up a bit!! :D

Mr A bought me the DVD as part of my birthday pressie.. 'cos I'm quite interested in Irish history :))

Anonymous said...

sorry about that, Anna, sometimes things here are overlooked...I do know that I need to have a look at the family tree to see what time periods they came over from Ulster (and one from Dublin)

no snubbing allowed( or meant, I'm sure)!!!! :DDDDDDD

Anonymous said...

Anna,
so when do we get to see your holiday photos??!! You've been neglecting your blog!!! ;D

Peajay said...

Hi Cyber pals,
Mel, I asked that very same question last week on Anna's guestbook and nothing happened could this be a snub? :DD
AJ, Christmas prezzies are still in the planning stages but it seems fairly likely that they will mostly be items of jewellery. How about you AJ, what prezzie plans do you have?
Been a bit swamped after the decorating (new carpet came today and looks very swish) our little lady labrador Lara has developed a lump and is off for a mastectomy on Thursday so it's one thing after another.
Hope everyone's ok.

Anonymous said...

Hi Peajay,

sorry to hear about the doggy delimma!! :((

the digs sound great with lots of hard work put in on your part!! :)

pressies..ugh, haven't even been thinking about that...I'm currently working to get the SgtMjr up to the mountains for his birthday next week...so far, so good in the planning, and we even have a roof over our heads instead of a tent!! :)))

talk with ya soon!!

AJ Fife said...

Anna,

As far as I can see, you're interested in ALL history!!:) A proper wee clever clogs!!:DD

Sorry about the Wind thingy, you must have been fizzing!! :DD Sometimes you think of the subject matter in these forums and end upforgetting to post!! That happens to me all the time!:D It's a downfall of being thick!!:D

Peajay,

Would you believe MrsAJ has Xmas all organised - presents bought already, not wrapped though!! She reckons it's ridiculous having to dust wrapped presents!!:D

I've already given her the Xmas pressie!!!!;) Somehow, I don't think I'll get away with that...I better get ma thinking cap on!!:D

Anna,

Getting back to 'Atonement', do you think it's a blokes book? Bird Song was close to mushiness, until the description of the lusty bit!!! I thought.....OK.....we'll stick with this!!!:DDD

Mel,

Another trip to the mountains...your gonna end up there honey!!:)

Anonymous said...

Hi all!!

Mountains? well, as long as there are lakes around...or even better, the mountains/hills meet the ocean!! But, your right AJ, it will probably be mountains if we move. :)

I have an early dental appt this morning for the kiddies, but I should be around later.

AJ Fife said...

Dentist eh!!! Best of luck, but you Americans all have fantastic teeth!!! Must be the air!!:D

Anonymous said...

Hi AJ,

I never thought about it in that context!! ;) No chatting this morn...the appt is at 09, and I have to help the tween get ready...I should be on later, tho! :)) ciao for now!! ;))

AJ Fife said...

Ok Dokey...you da boss!!:D

Peajay said...

I think it might be that Americans spend a bit more money and expect better treatment on their teeth than we do. Over here straightening, whitening, caps, crowns and venneers have only just really reached the wider audience, mostly based on the lack of NHS dentists who wouldn't have offered half of that list for free.
Hope all went well at the dentist Mel. When's TB's b'day?

Anonymous said...

I suppose we do expect good dentistry, and we do pay, depending on the insurance coverage. :)

TB's BD is on the 25th, Peajay

Have to work tomorrow, so won't be around...but will try to check in at my o'dark thirty before I go!! :)

AJ Fife said...

Peajay,

I know attitudes to dentists have changed over the years, but it's within my living memory of people getting a full set of choppers for their 21st birthday!!!:D Amazing, but true!!!:)

I wonder if Anna has still got hers!;)

Anonymous said...

hopefully that is an embellishment on your part, AJ!!! I've heard the UK/Scotland isn't as user-friendly when it comes to dentistry, but gosh!!! :/ :))(did all your girlfriends have to pass a visual dental check first???...sounds like Appalachia!!!!! ;DDD)

Well, I'm heading out the door soon, and ...'shock'....I may even need a rain jacket!! should I dance now or wait!!!! the cool weather is a comin, the cool weather is a comin!!!! :DDDDD

Nah just the one tooth left AJ.... right in the middle .. great big yellow fang type thing!! :D

I find I don't miss having teeth ... I just eat a lot of soup and Complan type liquid stuff .... that us oldies love!! :D :D :D

And don't say what's on your mind... .I'm ahead of ye!!! :D

I've heard the dirty jokes about 'birds with nae teeth'!! :D

Save Melanie's blushes :D

Peajay..

Not snubbing you :D :D .... I've just been a bit busy lately and don't seem to have caught up with much at all really! I haven't looked at my blog for ages :D

Isn't snub a great word tho'? Its like twaddle .. that's a great word too! :D

Not all history AJ... btw... I'm not very keen on the really ancient stuff or the Dark Ages :)) Also I've never really got into Napoleonic times either ... altho' I think Nelson is quite interesting :))

I'll 'snub' you AJ... you cheeky divil!! :D

We've been watching the Rome stuff as well... you can't beat a nice orgy with grapes and togas!! :D

Have a great time in Dunbar..... speak to you next week - I'll hopefully be more attentive!! ;))

Peajay said...

Hi Anna
I didn't take the snub to heart. :D Everyone seems so busy these days.
Lara the lab had her op today and apart from being totally away with the fairies this evening she seems fine. All we have to do now is keep her quiet for 10 days (not easily achieved when she sprints into the garden like a whippet). Histology results come back in 14 days and we are now £400 lighter. Thank god her gamekeeper owner is picking up that bill. I did cover Lara's ears during the initial examination as the vet kept mentioning her fatty deposits, poor gal, she's got enough to cope with. :DDD

Hi all,

I enjoyed reading yesterday's chat...fine form all!! :DD

Anna, I can so relate about the tree climbing....but I figure it's just payback, as I used to give my Mother apoplexy with the trees and rocks I used to climb....I just hammered in having good hand holds and surety of feet placement (and thank goodness AJ isn't here to make a play of words on that one)

Peajay, so glad to don't have to cover that bill!! :/

Busy day for me today...but I'll be around a bit...posted a few things on the Scotsman last nite, but nothing fun really...

Peajay said...

Hi all, I've come to claim 300. :D Hope all are well.

anna said...

Hi Peajay...

Congrats on the 300 - hope you're OK? :))

Hi Melanie....

I know what you mean... I have to force myself not to 'baby' KK too much ... but I'm a born worrier and always imagine the worst!! :(

Still there's a saying "Give them roots and wings" .... which I try to remember but its not always easy.... Goodness knows what I'll be like when he's older !! :D

Peajay said...

Hi Anna
How has your Saturday been?

Anonymous said...

Hi all,

well, just about packed up, tho I always feel I'm forgetting something....snow's expected so I had to pack all the warm clothes etc.

Will be back for a Thursday hello, and until then, find some trouble to get into, for me!! ;DDD

Peajay said...

Have a fabulous time Melanie. All the best B'day wishes to SgtMjr. :D

His Girl Friday said...

post script...this is Melanie!!!!

I've created a new blog identity and blog site, because I was reading and sometimes commenting on others' blogs and didn't want to give the 'privacy' of our 'chat room' site away.

I haven't done that much blog surfing, but it beats watching mindless telly, when the kids and the SgtMjr are busy, and ya'll are sleeping!!

I would love for you to comment there on occasion, but you may need a neutral blogger name so you don't trail here. I know I'm paranoid, but AJ will fancy that I've already run into a blogger named Yolanda...that seems like the one from the Scotsman!!! :/ :))

anna said...

Sorry, Peajay... I didn't get back to you :(

Saturday was fine ... quiet but good. Sunday we went over to ma-in-laws for Sunday lunch. It was nice - Mr A's brother and sister and their families were there as well... so it was a houseful :)) KK had a great time running about with his 2 cousins nearest in age to him :))

How was your weekend?

AJ ... did you have a good time in Dunbar.... not too much of a sore head I hope? :D :D

Melanie .... hope you have a nice time and speak to you on Thurs or thereabouts :))

AJ Fife said...

Hi Anna,

Nae sare heid....more's the pity!!! It was just 12 hours of stripping and painting!!;)

Wallpaper stripping I'd better add!!:D

Although, a few beers were consumed, not enough to inflict any damage!! Your weekend sounded better!! Sare heid?

Did you watch the debacle at Murrayfield? Imagine paying £160 for that!!!? I've been on the rugger main story!!:D

AJ Fife said...

Mel,

I don't think that's the same Yolanda! She seems a bit more.....lets jist say......American!!:D

anna said...

Hi AJ

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier...... :))

Agree with you about Yolanda ... I don't think its the same person either.

I had 3 glasses of white wine at ma-in-laws and I was just about to have the 4th glass when I knocked another (fortunately) empty glass over!!! So, I thought that's enough drink for you m'lady ... don't want to show yourself up in front of the outlaws!!! :D So, I went onto the lemonade :D

Also, Mr A looked at me with a sort of raised eyebrow and a knowing smile .... so I thought I'd better go onto soft drinks :D He was driving.... so was probably just jealous really!!

Honestly I'm not a lush.... altho' I sound like one sometimes :D :D

So, no sore head for me :))

AJ Fife said...

Anna,

The problem with a glass or two of wine, is the size of the glass!!:) We have some wine glasses that can take half a bottle of wine, nae problemo!!! Those ones are my favourites btw!!:D

anna said...

You're right AJ... these were quite big glasses!! :D

That's my excuse anyway!!

Sorry, I've missed you (again!) ... I just seem to be running to catch up lately - however, I should be around sometime tomorrow .. or maybe Thurs :))

Or later on tonight :)) I'll maybe catch you if you're on here later :)

I saw your comments on the rugby yesterday.... straight to the point as always! :)

One of Mr A's pals who lives down here but is from Scotland went up for the rugby at the weekend. I think he feels a bit ripped off....judging by the "I'm a bit p*ssed off" text that Mr A got from him during the match!! :D :D

Anonymous said...

Internet access, at last....but I cannot move this laptop one iota of a centimeter!!! :))

Excuse me, AJ...please define...'too American'!!
...and thank you for clarifying 'stripping' as I was about to get my dollars out!!!!! ;DD

Anna, I like the 'I'm not a lush' excuse...put me in that category with you, please!!! I had my share of red wine the other nite...no sair heid, thankfully!!

We went to the town of Bodie today, a righteous old west 'ghost town' (gold & silver mining)...really neat, as some of the cabins still have furniture, etc. There were about 70 saloons in its heyday(1860-70's) of 10,000 people...due to a fire and time, only about 5% of the town exists. I'll probably post some photos when I get back....tho I'm still awaitin others'...... ;)))

This cabin has satellite so I was able to tune into Ireland losing to France...Anna, all I could think about was that Rugger calendar of JG's!!!! The SgtMjr was probably wondering at my smiles...I just referred to the incredible scrums that French managed to pull off!! :)) Ireland was playing pretty poorly, I thought....AND, I'm so glad I didn't run back to the cabin for the Sco & NZ match!! :((((

Miss chatting with ya, but I'll be back home tomorrow!!!! ciao!! :)

anna said...

Hi Melanie

That sounds like a really interesting place - sounds a bit like 'Paint Your Wagon' :D :D

Any sign of a young Clint Eastwood? ;) Now that would make me smile..... more than the French rugby guys even!! :D

Any sign of that AJ varmint out west? :D He's mighty quiet... must be clean tuckered out after his weekend of stripping!! :D

AJ Fife said...

Hi Anna,

Did you get the e-mail I sent you?

Janis was asking after ya!!:D I think there's a wee bit of chemistry there!;D

I've been involved in the usual bawdy stuff on the Scotsman!! Helped reduce the serious subject of obesity to a farce!!! I was offering up your holiday snaps again, in fact when your name came up, Magic Hoops remembered the earlier conversation about the photos!!!:DDD

Mel,

The comment about being "American" was more of a compliment than anything else!!;)) It was American, as in the nice wholesome way!!:)

Did I get myself outta that particular hole?:D

anna said...

Keep talking AJ... I don't think Melanie believes you .....yet!! :D

Have you been talking about me on the Scotsman? I thought my ears were burning... .I must away and have a look ... and check my emails!! :D

anna said...

Just had a look at the comments.... :D :D

Very funny...

I'll have to get back to some serious posting.... its nice to be missed!! :D

Thanks for:

a. the 'lightweight' remark - much nicer than heavyweight.... especially as it was a board about fat folk!! :D :D

b. the second only to Raquel Welch remark.... :)) because of that I'll let you off the auld wife remark!! :D :D

You redeemed yourself!! ;)

Looks like we missed a fun board today...Melanie and Peajay :(

Isn't Mona and her many incarnations a weirdo tho' ?

anna said...

You posting anywhere AJ?

I've made a comment on the Gordon Brown lead story in the UK section ..... had a pop at some Aussie!! :D

:D
Whatcha doing?

AJ Fife said...

Hi there honey chops!:)

I've posted on the Burma story, Rockall and mainly waging war on the East Fife-Rangers story!! I was at the game last night - 0-4 defeat!!! Still, it's given me plenty of ammo!!:D

I'll check on your progress!:))

anna said...

I'll have a look at where you've been !! :D

I doubt if I'll get into the footie story tho'!! :D

I'll have a look at the Rockall story and the other one!! :D

AJ Fife said...

Of all the comments you've lamped the Scotsman with, the Rockall comment is probably the best ever!!:D

The coffee went splattering over ma desk!!:DD

"Mooning from California"!!!!:D

anna said...

Someone called Cairn has had a go at me about that one!!

Says I should write something constructive!!

I've happily corrected him.... :D :D

Hope you managed to clean the coffee off your desk!! :D

AJ Fife said...

Desk has been sponged!!!

I'd better go and see what you've written!:D

anna said...

Oh dear...

The Cairn geezer has just told me to 'stick to the rules of the forum'..... and

Buchannan from CA ... thinks I've got a fethish about bums!! :D :D

anna said...

I've also got some Major on my case.... and the Winged Messenger!!

I can see its a novelty for them having an English visitor to the boards!!

I've been away too long!:D :D

Anonymous said...

'mooning from California'??!

good morning!, sounds like a fun chatty day, but I'll to read later, 'cause I gotta go earn my tuppence :((

I'll be around Fri :)))

anna said...

I'm in danger of getting moderated ..... on there .. so I'd better back off a bit !

Shame really - just beginning to warm up!! :D

Peajay said...

I was enjoying it Anna although I did have a small inkling that you may have exited your bed from the wrong aspect this morning! :DD

AJ Fife said...

Hi Mel,

Hope you all had a great time!:))Look forward to catching up with ya!:)

Isn't Anna great, she fighting off about 6 of them!!:D

Hi Peajay,

How you doin'?

Peajay said...

Hi AJ,
I'm doing fine thanks. I thought Anna was doing brilliantly in a very acerbic fashion. Although your favourite numbers brought the tone way on down. :DDD

AJ Fife said...

Y'know Peajay, as soon as I typed and posted, I thought...I've let myself down.....again!!:D

Peajay said...

Uh huh! Mmmmm. Yep! :DD It's funny how it always works that way. :D

AJ Fife said...

Come on Anna, that Major fella is back....give it to him.....both barrels!!:D

AJ Fife said...

A well Peajay, it's only the internet!!! You can get away with murder!:D

Peajay said...

Sorry, I got distracted trying to find operating instructions for my new gadget (a Magnetic Polishing Machine) as it came with none. Now know that it requires water, oops. That explains why my piece of jewellery ended up matt yesterday.

AJ Fife said...

Peajay,

Ever thought about making fake antique jewellery(passed off as the real thing of course!), there could be a few quid in that!!:)

Peajay said...

That sounds just a little bit dodgy AJ. I'm trying to build a good reputation which a spell in HM Prison will knacker somewhat, thanks for the suggestion though. :DD

anna said...

Hi Peajay and AJ

Acerbic... moi??? :D :D

I'm a bit cheesed off I've written 2 posts in the last 5 minutes and couldn't get either of them to post!

Have I been moderated already?

I see Mario is sticking up for me ... bless!! :D

AJ Fife said...

These 'univerities of crime' have workshops with all the proper gear, it could be a blessing in disguise!!!

Anyway, no doubt a regular Lovejoy would suss you out!!:D

AJ Fife said...

Aw no, don't start getting all mushy with Mario....you know these things always end in tears!!:D

anna said...

Actually I think its the Scotsman site... I can't get on there at the moment :((

Joan of Arc.... ????? Wasn't she burned to death by the 'orrible Eeenglish (French accent!!) :D :D Maybe not a good anaolgy AJ... but thanks anyway!! :D

I wonder who else Major Puffin has posted as... I'm sure we've had a run in before, but he had a different name.

anna said...

Yep the Scotsman site is definitely down... either that or they're not accepting 'users' from 'darn sarf' :D

Have you fallen out with anyone today?

How do I get myself into these things.... I'm so mild mannered and even-tempered ... I can't understand it.

I don't believe that Buchannan bloke is Scottish btw... He seems a bit clueless about the voting over here. :)

AJ Fife said...

Anna,

Possibly a poor analogy, but I was thinking more of her bravery in a male dominated world!!!:D

Does God speak to you directly?

btw, don't you hate how people pick up inconsequential spelling mistakes - Jean De Arc instead of Jeanne D'Arc!!! I knew it was wrong!!:)

AJ Fife said...

I'll go back on in a minute!!

I was waging serious war with someone called Christopher on the East Fife story earlier!!:D

anna said...

"Does God speak to you directly?"

I hear voices in my head... telling me to do strange things!! :D

Is that the same thing? :D

I'm going to the footie story ..

Peajay said...

Ah, but what sort of strange things Anna? :D

AJ Fife said...

That'll be the Big Man right enough.

Out of an innocent interest, what kind of strange things?:-)

AJ Fife said...

Peajay,

Now that was a strange thing, was it no? :D

Peajay said...

Indeed, very strange. :D

AJ Fife said...

Indeed it was very strange!!!

Anna,

Don't look at the fitba story, I've just let masel doon again!!:D

anna said...

That was very strange indeed.... "Strangers in the Night".... type stuff!! :D

The voices in my head... I sound like the Yorkshire Ripper or someone:((

Anyway ... guys ... I'd better go and cook some food.. speak to you later :DD

Peajay said...

Hope you'll be cooking something nice, Anna.

anna said...

Pasta and chicken Peajay :)) not bad actually tho' I say so myself and v. healthy :))

AJ.. Mr A has just had a sick joke texted to him (from a Scottish mate - I might add) about Colin McRae .... I'm scared to pass it on to you in case you're offended easily :D

Let me know if you want to hear it :))

Buchannan is definitely American... he's just called me Pollyanna.. which is as American as Momma's Apple Pie!! :D

Peajay said...

I've been given one about the McCanns so it can't be any worse. I'm easy going so yes.
We're having chicken au gratin and thai rice.

anna said...

I've heard one or two about the McCanns...

"Doing a McCann" is going out and leaving the kids on their own :)

Newsflash... Foot and Mouth found on Scottish farm!!!

But f**k knows where the rest of Colin McCrae is!! :D

Sorry if anyone's offended :( :))

Your din dins sounds nice Peajay btw :))

Peajay said...

Ha ha ha. Very good. Mine was:
Jose Mourinho has said he wants to go back to Portugal and never be seen in England again......The McCanns have offered to help.
:D
Dinner was delicious and was accompanied by garlic dough balls. Seriously unhealthy. :DD

AJ Fife said...

That's disgraceful ladies!!!:(

Almost as bad as the new people carrier from Renault, it only carries 2 kids tho'......it's a Renault McCann!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anna said...

:D :D :D

Aren't we awful... :D

Mind you .. .I bet they're fairly tame compared to some of the things that'll be doing the rounds on the web :))

Garlic dough balls Peajay... double yum!! :D With the added advantage that if any vampires are about in Herts tonight you'll be perfectly safe :))

Whatcha have for dinner AJ? Fajitas?

I saw your post on the footie.... you were quite right ... sectarianism is the biggest scourge in N.Ireland, parts of Scotland and places like Liverpool and Manchester.. .it should have no place in football and the guy you had a pop at seems like a pillock anyway. Your use of the vernacular was justifable in the circumstances :)))

He did sound like a piece of dug sh*t :D :D

AJ Fife said...

Hiya Anna,

:DDD

The 'dug sh*te' jibe was rough, even for me!:D

You're right tho', sectarianism is the shame of Scotland and it's the one aspect of our culture I fear in a potentially independent Scotland!! I suppose we'll cross that bridge IF we come to it!!:\

I rustled me up a wee curry - chicken, mushroom and banana!! Delicious!!! Even if a say it masel!:D

Mrs AJ is oot on a work night out! She'll be home soon, as the bump takes it's toll on her energy!:)

Are you tending to your 'boys'? KK tucked up and Mr A enjoying the Times, baffies and his pipe by the fire!!

AJ Fife said...

Anna,

This Buchanana chappie is there for the taking!!:D Despite his nationalist views, I think he should be put to the sword!:D

I added a little to the debate, jist tae spice things up ye ken!!!:D

anna said...

Hi AJ...

The Buchannan guy just doesn't get it does he? :D

The curry sounds nice :))

How's Mrs AJ getting on ... when's baby due?

Is it Xmas time? I bet she is getting tired now..... I could have slept for Britain when I was pregnant, and I did :D

KK is in the Land of Nod, and Mr A is watching sport of some kind on the goggle box :))

AJ Fife said...

19th of December and she is really tired, but she doesn't like to show it!:) She's really enjoying pregnancy this time though, last time was a bit of a shock for her!!:)

There must be rugby on, I'm trying to study now, but this Buchannanana bloke interests me!:D

So....if Mr A is watching the box, Anna gets to do whatever she wants?

AJ Fife said...

Anna,

I wonder if Buchanana is feeling persecuted by now? :-)

anna said...

I think the Samain poster correcting the Gaelic was brilliant!! :D

Absolutely priceless.... seems to have shut Buchanananananan up ... or maybe not?

Do you think we'll get moderated for persecuting the poor chap? :D

Glad to hear Mrs AJ is keeping well and enjoying this pregnancy..... I cannae wait to find out what the blog's wee baby is :)))

AJ Fife said...

You'll have to wait my cyber pal!!! But because I have your e-mail and Mel's, I promise to send you all a picture!! Mel can pass it on to Peajay. :-D

Wotcha think?

I reckon the Buchanan bloke will be severely cheesed off about the saor Alba thing!!:-D

Sometimes the boards throw up real beauts!!:DD

anna said...

That'll be great AJ.... I'm looking forward to seeing him............. or her!! :D

I think Buchannnnnnanannanana might well be black affronted now... and away to lick his wounds :))

Or maybe he's totally thick skinned and will be back :D

The Samain geezer is a bit like the Clint Eastwood character with no-name that rides into town, nails the baddy and rides out again :))

anna said...

Major EEjit... is attention seeking again :D :D

Wonder if that's Buchannnnan?

AJ Fife said...

He was like that!!:D

BANG.....and the Buchahananna is whacked, good and proper!!:D

You're pretty sure we're having a wee laddie?!? We'll soon see if you're some sort of a witch or not!:)

Although Buchananana's mind's already made up!:D

Did you notice the Raquel Welch comparison? There'll be blokes on the site who'll treat you real different from now on!!!

anna said...

Not Major Wotsit tho' .... he must be gay.. :D

Doesn't fancy Raquel Welch anyway :D

I expect I'll get a few more silly comments from him .... ah well, what it is to be popular !!! :D :D

AJ Fife said...

I've just added to the Joanna mystique!!:-) I reckon Tim will have messed his pants.....if he knows who I'm on about!!!:D

AJ Fife said...

For the benefit of Mel and Peajay, here's the link to all this nonsense:-

http://news.scotsman.com/uk.cfm?id=1543182007

anna said...

Crikey... AJ... I'm starting to fancy myself... :))

Tim sounds OK ... tho' and he's got a point ... I do go on a bit! I have to be careful not to seem to be having a go at everyone when I'm just digging at one poster....

Mind you, there are some sensitive little boys out there!! :D

AJ Fife said...

I think we have an advantage over most of them, with these little discussions- choreographing our attacks and micky taking!!:D

I'm going to elaborate on that theme!! Magic Hoops will be walking over broken glass to get you by the time I'm finished!!:D

AJ Fife said...

If that's OK by you of course!!!:))

Peajay said...

I'm there.

AJ Fife said...

Hi Peajay :)

Wotcha think, could I add to the mix? Maybe the expertise of Linda Lovelace thrown in, the wisdom of Shirley Williams and cooking skills of Mad Hoor Jaffacakes!!:D

Yes, I'm currently scoffing a nice Spanish red - the make is unimportant!!:D

anna said...

No problemo... :))

As long as he doesn't find out my home address!! :D

He'll be in for a big disappointment if he does!! :D :D

Right ...I'm off to bed.... night, night - speak to you soon :))

Peajay said...

Night Anna. Are you still sober AJ or are reaching the bladdered stage? :DD

AJ Fife said...

Nite nite Anna :-) Don't listen to Peajay, and if you do resemble a pudding,it's one of those Heinz Treacle steam puddings - delicious with custard and never a disappointment!:D

Peajay,

Was that too much?

You can always tell when I've ersed a nice bottle of Spanish red!!!:D Not bladdered, more blootered!!!:D

anna said...

I've just looked back on the forum... I should be in bed!! :D

Major..... wants to take you to bed now AJ ;))

Odd sort of bloke.... can't work him out really :))

Thanks for the treacle pudding thing... I sound fantastic!! :D

Eat your heart out ... Peajay!! Custard as well.... :D :D :D :D :D

AJ Fife said...

Anna,

I responded to the Major, it would seem he'd like to out flank me in a pincer movement!!:D

I put him right on that score!!:D

Anonymous said...

Hi guys!
what a laugh, sorry I missed it!! :DDD
(...thanks for leaving the address)
...never got to the East Fife one, will have to find it tomorrow...

see you in my morning!! :D

Anonymous said...

Ps. I find it quite interesting that tonite the 1945 Errol Flynn film, 'Objective, Burma!' is playing!
ah, maybe it's just a coincidence...

anna said...

Morning all ... :))

How's your heid AJ?

Horrible Cankers has popped up on the Rockall board.... she's funny. :D

Speak to you later ...

AJ Fife said...

Hi Anna,

The heid is fine, but you shouldn't drink and post, I was out of control!!!:D

Hi Mel,

That Burma film caused a right stink in the UK, as it portrayed the Yanks winning the war in Burma!! The old vets didnae like it!!:D Me....I reckon Errol was pure class!:D

anna said...

I know what you mean about drinking and posting.... :))

Right about the film tho'... Burma and the Far East - the way it is portrayed can be a very sensitive topic for many of the war generation.

I used to do library visiting for an old boy who had been a POW of the Japs.... he'd spent some time on the Burma railway and 3 years as a slave in a coal-mine.

Lovely old guy ... but his ordeal had left a lot of scars... mental and physical. Usually very cheery tho'... he used to like 'talking' books and one time I took him a few war ones... but he wouldn't have them... said he'd lived through it once and didn't want to watch it renacted... usually inaccurately. Was very bitter about the British 'establishment' and the lack of compensation or apology from the Japs.... too little too late I think! But, he didn't hold any grudges against the later generations of Japanese people.

It was an education for me anyway :))

Still Errol Flynn was always a dab hand at buckling his swash!!

Do you think he was gay?

AJ Fife said...

Errol Flynn gay!!!? Never....he was a swordsman of the highest calibre M'lord!!:D

I've known a few Burma vets in my life and everyone of them hated the British Govt and the Japanese!!!:( It's a tragedy anyone had to go through that, but what could they do?

anna said...

I know what you mean.... but they are called the Forgotten Army and its true :(

The old guy I was on about is dead now ..died a couple of years ago and we had quite a few chats when he was in the mood. He certainly described conditions in the far east and the casual, routine and endemic cruelty of the Japs better than any book I've ever read..... I mean its remarkable that any of them lived through it at all. Must have been hellish.

Certainly made me realise how lucky our generation were. :)

Must go and see what's happening on the Scotsman :)

Melanie said...

Hi all, jest gettin to ma keyboard!

where are you posting?

Melanie said...

Errol batted both ways on occasion, I heard; and used to spike the drinks of the more virtuous lasses who were too shy for him ;)

AJ Fife said...

Hi Mel,

How are you, is getting cooler yet? You could start choppin' logs for the winter!!:)

Old Errol was a right cad was he not? He seemed a bit confused tho'!!:)

I'm posting all over the shop at the mo - fitba, Gordon Broon, Burma and 30 something sex story!! Nothing serious mind!!:D

Anna,

Guys like your friend were walking history books, but there are few left!:( When you look back, you always wished you had asked them so many other questions, but the knowledge has gone forever....it's such a shame!:(

anna said...

Hi AJ.... how's it going the neet?

I've just been having a look at the fitba thread..... by gum you were getting a slating on there ... but you fought them off.... well done :D

I'd have helped you out but I know next to nothing about footie ... so I'd just have been an embarrassment for you :D :D

I've had 3 glasses of wine so far.. purely medicinal as I have a cold and a sore throat.... bloody weather in this country. :D

Hi Mel and Peajay :))

How are you diddling? :D

anna said...

Btw: AJ did you see the England match tonight....?

It was great !! :D :D :D

Mind you have to say that laddie with the dreadlocks on the Tonga site was pretty fit looking ... :)) I could hardly look away!! :D

AJ Fife said...

Hi Anna,

Sorry I missed you as I always like the challenge of a steaming Anna!!

I wonder what you were like, full steam ahead, in the Sgt's Mess in Benbecula!!!!

Hmmmmmm, maybe you have legend status there!!:D I'll see what I can dig up!!!:DD

anna said...

Hi AJ :))

Just been watching the All Blacks slaughtering Romania ... whew, they show no mercy do they?

I've posted on the England rugby thread and retaliated at 'kimba' who I think is 'mona' on one of the election stories from yesterday.

KK is away out with the cubs this afternoon and early evening ... they're having a circus themed event and a campfire later on :)) Hope it doesn't rain... KK is hoping for marshmallows to toast and hot dogs!! :D

Anonymous said...

Hi all,

Anna, hope you feel better! wine? I thought it was hot toddies?! ;)

sorry I missed you yesterday, and today I have to work :(( Tho I have some time off coming up :))

talk with ya soon! :)

Anonymous said...

Howdy you your Monday, all!!

Hope your all well, and in a chatting mood this week!! This was the week I was to be in Ireland...which I said 'nay' to the touristy tour. Needless to say, i still have the vacation time off, so I'm bound to find some trouble to get into!! ;)))

speak with you hopefully in a few hours!!!

anna said...

Hi Melanie :))

Like the new pics ... very good .. they look like a film set..

The post office box in the first pic is very strange.. it looks like one of those cages they used to hang felons up in at a crossroads ...in the old days, or something out of Doctor Who :))

Anyway I'll have a look at the link as well :)) Speak to you later ..

AJ... good weekend?

Causing any mischief on the Scotsman? I saw you on the Scot Rugby thread... having a wee dig at the English... but I let you off because:

a. It was you :DD
b. You were right, they were playing like the English pack... mind you neither team will get away with play like that against the big southern teams..... as we've already seen ! :( They're gonna get stuffed ... Eng v Aus and Sco v Arg..... its going to be hard to watch :((

anna said...

Altho' from a purely female view ... I have to say out of the 2 hometeam kickers.... I fancy Chris Paterson most!! ;))

I think Jonny is cute and he has a lot of female admirers... but maybe he looks a wee bit young - for me anyway :D He doesn't quite float my boat :))

There's just something a bit understated and sexy about Chris P.... ;) Hmm... best thing to come out of Scotland for a while ;)

Anonymous said...

Hello All!

Anna, whew, what are you about...reinforcing that we wifies can be voracious!!!;DDDDD
(I'll have to google Chris P. and have a glance at the 'tall drink o' water'!! ;D)

Bodie was a lot of fun, I want to go back and see some more of the area, and take some more photos...there really is a lot of 'wild west' history there.

Let me know where yer posting, I'll go have a look.

Well Melanie.... having been 'forced' to watch Rugby WC all weekend... by Mr A.. I couldn't help but notice which of the young men looked the most attractive :))

So, on the England team ...there's cute Wilkie (Jonny), on the All Blacks there's a very attractive fair haired guy and a couple of others, some of the French squad aren't bad, a lot of the Irish are in good shape too..... but there's something about Chris P for me... especially when he was chatting after the match on Saturday ;))

However, having said that I don't know whether I would go so far as to support Scotland against the Argies.... :))

On the other hand I'd see more of Chris P's smile and butt when he kicks ....so .... maybe I will :))

Didn't fancy any of the Argie team anyway !! :D
